I am new to this site. I just read this whole thread. Who is Sid? what is the name of the company? website? I like the axle!!! Might want one for my 49 F1. Thank you for any info.
If you are using the down-n-forward springs you have to extend your drag link tube or get one extended and tie-rode extenders for the drop axle. I have some pics of the axle from MF in my gallery however, I took it out and put in a stretched original one. I was a very easy install..
I guess I took all the pics out except this one...
Jaye-is your tie rod above or below the leaf springs?
I just ordered the Speedway axle drops, because I don't want to drill out the spindle tappered holes. Just in case someday I or the next guy wants to go back to stock.
Kyle my tie-rods are below the springs, I plan on taking the extenders off if there is enough clearance without them I'll get under when time permits to see if its possible.

Do you have to drill out the spindle when useing those type of drop links?? The ones pictured.
Just installed my tie-rod drops yesterday... had to touch the top of the spindle with a 9/16 drill bit and then the bolts dropped in without any play... Looks like a good setup but I am concerned how close the tie rod ends are to the tire sidewall... I have stock wheels on it now so I might have to adjust backspacing on the set I plan on riding on...
After removing three leaf from the front springs on my 51 F1. The ride dropped about another inch and looked very cool, but handling went to *****. Hitting a pot hole distorts the heck out of the springs. I heard that if you remove a couple of leafs it will smooth out the ride, not so on my 51. I put two of the three leafs back in and not as low as before but much better ride now, still drive like a truck though. LOL.
