I'd love to see some good pictures of the ends of a Sid's and Roadster's axles for comparison.
Sid does all of Roadsters dropped axels as I found out when I ordered from Roadsters.com and Sid sent me an email saying that he would start on the axel as soon as Dave Mann from Roadsters paid him. Mine is supposed to be here on Thursday, My Question is: If you have stock springs how many leafs can you take out, and if you can do this, I have heard you take out every other leaf, and then I have heard that you take out your shortest leafs only? Is this something to do to or not to do?

Talked to Sid today he told me that mine will be here tomorrow. What you suggested with the springs is what I'm going to do after I first see how the truck sits. Removing every other leaf should soften the ride too.

You remove every other leaf starting with the second shortest. Unless you are using a very heavy engine (hemi?) or plan on carrying heavy loads you will like the results. Sand the leafs clean (lengthwise only!)round the edges of the ends and install the HMW plastic slider strips as well as new eye bushings while you have them apart.

I should be moving on mine come friday so I will let you know how it goes. I am hoping to have the front done for the most part by Sunday afternoon. May be a stretch.
kdmcinnes: have you had your truck on the road yet? How does it ride with those coil-overs in conjuction with the leafs?
By the way, nice progress on the body mods.
The coil-overs were on it when I got it 7 years ago, ride drive ok, a little stiff but not sure of any difference until I get this swap completely done. Will keep you updated.
Anyone else putting in a drop axle on a 48-52 will need 6 deg shims for their caster adjustment. It works the same way as setting your pinion angle in the rear. I picked up some from Napa today there are 6 per set. I only need two. So if you want to pick-up some, here's the Napa part # 264-4119 (16 buck) or contact me.
I am new to this site. I just read this whole thread. Who is Sid? what is the name of the company? website? I like the axle!!! Might want one for my 49 F1. Thank you for any info.
