I'm thinking the leak must be pretty big, or I'd vote for a combustible fluorescing liquid that could be added to the filter bowl, then viewed through filter goggles and an Alternate Light Source (ALS). Seems like it has to be like the babies butt or something though. I have no experience with the high speed "bellowed" up pipes (maybe one day), but when I reinstalled mine after the adrenaline, I used the same method I'd used many times before... lots of anti-seize. Works like a charm, and you're able to make tiny adjustments right up to the point of cinching down the doughnuts. Used it on the manifolds too.
We also should not disregard the possibility that it may just be a CAC boot that has blown partially off due to the "increased" pressure now being produced.
IIRC The bellowed up pipes aren't actually a larger diameter than the stock pipes. The difference is that the 'bellowed' section allows some give for expansion and contraction. The stock pipes were known to crack or develop leaks at the ends over time because of changes in temp between hot and cold engines. They're not so much a power adder as they are a preventative measure. By the time you have the turbo off, everything out of the way and are either changing the exhaust or pulling it to do other work - you might as well change them out while you're in there.
Being set up for a flourescing liquid and goggles would be fun - especially if you were creating documentary or 'how to' video, but that's a bit ambitious even for me. :-) Points awarded sir.
wow, Casey, that's alot of work you acomplished. sorry to hear about the poor performance. you get down here and need a hand or an extra set of eyes let me know and we can meet up.
