Nice toolbox! Man, that is a little bit of rust there. Like the tires too... Good luck and don't forget to take pictures!

Just want to say thanks to Clay and Glenn(03_PSD) for the parts aquired for this project and all you FTErs for the info I derived from this site.

While on leave Im doing quite a bit to my truck, whole new pre-turbo exhaust coated by clay, van turbo coated also. Airdog to help get the air outa the fuel, JIMMY JAMMERS! Water Pump R&R and glowplugs with a Stancor relay.

Not to mention a huge **** brush bumper Glenn let me steal(practically), I will get pics of it soon.

Largest and hardest part of this project will be the rust....and there is alot of it.

Now I know some of you are wondering "why dont you just throw some undercoating on it and call it a day?" Thats cuz I HATE RUST, HATE IT, HATE ,HATE IT!! I dont want to mask the problem....I want to destroy it!

I got my truck with roughly 57k on the odometer and its been a WI truck all her life, its got a heavy hitch on her so I figured the guy before me towed somthing pretty good sized with it, that was until I took out the bed liner to discover holes for a 5th wheel and god all mighty dents on all 4 corners of the base plate of where the reciever sat. With putting roughly 44k on it for the last 4 years you wouldnt think much about rust damage. But I knew all to well, my 79 bronco literally rusted away until I HAD to restore it. So now its time to fix this problem for good. POR15 will be coated on every reachable inch of the frame, underbody and under the bed.

I know you guys and girls like pics so here ya go...

Work starts early today and I will update this thread as I go along so stay tuned.......

That is the biggest Maglite I have ever seen. What does it take 12 D batteries???? The truck looks great. I know what you mean by the rust. My truck was from Texas so it has been in Northern Indiana for 1 1/2 years now. The frame rusted up so fast last winter it made my head spin. I know the POR-15 would work good. I have also heard that the Fluid Film they have been giving away samples of can be used as a undercoating. Hope everything goes well for you.

P.S. Be careful over there.

Thanks for the comments guys and girls. Almost got the fuel tank down as I had a late start...new year party helped with that.

The Blue Oval toolbox will not be used as a toolbox.....its just to nice!

That maglite is a 6cell....I was looking for an 8cell but no one had one.

Back to work....

Been there done that with the frame. I wish I could get my cab off and do the front but it is a lot of work to get the frame clean and get everything coated. I coated the underside of my bed too, but it was only one coat overtop of the factory coating and I'm already noticing some rust stains.

I wish it still looked that clean. Doesn't take long.

The toolbox was an early birthday gift....its going to be more of a lunch box than anything. I can ask the padra and madra were they got it from. I got the tank down and all the lines/wiring out of the way....its worst than I thought, for sure. Im using an air needler to get the heavy off and theres ALOT!

It took my dad, my brother and myself to get the bed off...that 3rd person really helped out, just picked it up and walked it straight back onto some saw horses.

Dang! I can't believe how much rust your trucks get up there. I've got 10 years and a quarter million on mine and just very very light surface rust on the frame. You can still make out the marking pencil in areas on the axles. I guess everything's a trade off. You guys can probably buy a house for less than 300,000 where we can't.

I had the goose neck plate put in my truck when I was in Wickenburg, AZ. I guess I wasn't thinking to well as the Ontario salted roads not only ate the bed away, it rusted the ball mechanism where I can't use it any more. Another good reason to go to a flat bed.
Who knows of a good flat bed dealer in Ontario, Canada?

YOU AND ME BOTH BROTHA! I got replacment panels to put in soon, still not done with the back frame. Waiting on parts to my sandblaster. So I started on the turbo, first time turbo puller took me about 50min to get down to the block. Then I started looking around underneath to notice my rear main leaking(yes ive checked all other possibilities, it is the rear main)

So now gota pull the trans(insert frowny face)

Back to work....

i with you on that one man, i have tried 3 times to fix the doors. even gone as far as re welding the two joints together on the bottom, there is a guy on here that as giving samples of this rust stop stuff made out of lanolin(sheep skin oil) it actually does a pretty good job.

Im from PA and the doors look like S*** just keep redoing them guess the only fix is getting new doors.
