It would help to know how cold it is where you are ,if this has happened before , what grade of oil you are running , if you plug it in is it the same result .is it time for an oil change & have you done any testing ? Ect
Im running rotella 15-40 and just did the change 2 weeks ago. it does it in weather of 40 degrees and below. I blocked the radiator. Only does it when cold. its been doing it for weeks now. I just bought it 2 months ago so i dont really know its past..

Ok, what happens when plugged in ?..Its common for a PS to romp when it is really cold . how many miles on the clock ?...
when i plugged it back in it ran ok in the driveway...i drove it 25 miles at 70mph and it kept closing up..no matter what it keeps closing..it has 187,000. But i have two E350's with 7.3 with 300k each and never had and issue! LOL

pluggin the ebp valve back in is pure coincidence, you smackign the throttle cured the problem.
below 40 ford reccomends runnign 10w30 oil in the powerstroke engine. the oil fired injectors are unable to remain efficient at cold temps on thick oil. you are left with 10w30 convential oil or 5w40 synthetic oil as a choice in the winter, or deal with the "romps"
another thing to check is the icp sensor- while the truck is "romping" simply unplug it. if oil is the problem the truck will "hiccup" and smooth right out. if there is no change then look towards your transmission range sensor. to test that shift to neutral while the truck is "romping" and see if it clears up.
c00n thanks, i started the truck with your ideas inmind. Howwever it ran great for the first 20 seconds...shook bad and shut off...will not start now..tried everything. stumped lol
