EBPV weirdness

I have been meaning to post this question for some time now but keep forgetting I've been running with my EBPV unplugged because if I leave it plugged in, it seems to want to shut on me when I let off the go pedal (or at least it was doing that). I haven't messed with it again for quite some time, but with the cold weather coming I'd like to plug it back in for the high idle in the morning. My EBPV tube was clear when I removed it, I cleaned the sensor when the tube was out but didn't remove it because I didn't have the right socket. What could cause the EBPV to shut under decel?

the EBPS or the air temp sensor in the air box...i dont use my EBPV in the winter....its a exhaust brake..also very
annoying
when used as a warm up valve....the high idle still works.....

Since unplugging it I haven't heard the truck go into high idle, but maybe it just hasn't been cold enough. AIT is zip-tied somewhere near the 6637 (I forget exactly where now).

It's not going to go into hi idle until it's about 35-45° and like ron said high idle will work regardless of the EBPV being connected. It just won't be as loud.

It has been getting into the 40's here, so I am sure it is getting into the upper 30's at Chase's house.

Could it be the AIT?

I still don't think there is anything wrong, has your truck go into high idle at 40°? Mine has not. I though I have had mine come on above freezing, so I'm not positive on the temp, but it will go there if there is extended period of below 32°.

I wouldn't be to worried about the high Idle, it will come naturally.

Chase have you put your truck through a winter yet? If not I wouldn't be to concerned.

I agree with that. I never wait for mine to high idle on it's own, I always kick it to high idle myself.

If only I had that option...
Jason I'm more concerned that the EBPV seems to shut itself when I let off the go pedal than the truck not going into high idle. With it unplugged I haven't had a problem, but when it was plugged in last I had to pull over and unplug it again because even slightly letting off caused it to shut.

I here ya, so maybe it's the sensor or the actuator misbehaving.

I've read that the sensors go out sometimes.

If the sensor was bad wouldn't it set the SES light, or is it a soft code?
