My boss from alberta called me the other day, and is begging for me to go back there, says they are needing some people really bad. If you can chuck some cement bags around, and withstand the typical male harrassment, I could see if they would consider ya. I wont lie to ya though, its alot of physical work, mixed with driving. Not the typical sleep all day haul a few loads of water a night water truck kinda job haha.

Didn't sound out of time, and I was quite surprised she started very easily, on the first time. First thing this morning, though, she was a little hard to get started, but then it was -18, Brrr

It's strange that I can log on to the regular site, but not here. It even says, thank you for loggin in, etc. then won't let me do anything.
Makes you wonder what was going on behind the door and what actually occured while the vet was telling you to make him take it easy...........
I still miss my German Sherpard 3 years later, it happened before Christmas on 5 pm, Dec 12, 06.
Got to love the strange world of computers......

I was so stunned by what was going on BEFORE the surgery,I trusted the vet. they sent him home with me, saying he was probably going to need surgery, so don't feed him after 8 pm. If I had, had my wits about me, I would have taken him right away to Calgary. There is an excellent vet hopital there, that deals with cancers etc.and always has a supply of blood on hand for surgeries. What would an 8 hr drive be compared to waiting 2 1/2days??? But then the vet never told me any of this. You know, I have repeadedly requested a copy of his medical file, and I am still waiting for it. Hmmmm

I always had dogs, mostly GS, and I have of course, lost them for one reason or another, it always hurt, but this guy was different. There was just a special bond between us, right from the very first day. I also had his brother but due to bad arthritis, and the cold temps here, my parents have him in Vancouver. He will be 14 on Jan. 16, but I'm not sure how much longer he will be with them as he has developed kidney failure. My folks are taking really good care of him, cooking him a special diet and all. It's going to be hard on them when the time comes. Prince passed on March18/08, shortly after heturned 12.

Do you knowmuch about Blue Heelers? They are also known as Australian Cattle Dogs, and they are way up thereon the intelligence list. I used mostly hand signals with Prince, and Duke (his brother), is a certifide "search and rescue" guy in BC.

Computers and elec problems go hand in hand - they both suck when not working right, lol

I `ve always found blue Blue Heelers to be awesome dogs though there was one that would just as soon take your leg off as look at you. A rare exception I think.
Glen, 66gpw, has a nice Blue Heeler.

Yes, I do know about the temperment, but I think alot of it has to do with how they were raised, if they were socialized a lot when they are young, etc. these2 guys were my first, and they were actually pb Heeler x pb Border Collie. Duke took all the Collie traits and markings, Prince the Heeler.

If a Heeler knows he can dominate you, he will, with out hesitation. They have a very uncanny way of knowing. Prince went after a guy up here once, and I just howled with laughter. I was staying in a campground, and these 2 guys walked by, beer in hand, and decided they were going to have an uninvited visit with me. Well Prince was on a cable, and they didn't see him, Iwarnedthem but they just kept coming into my site. Well to make along story short, 1 of them ended up with a hole in the crotch of his Tommy Hilfiger jeans, and needed a very large bandaid. Prince never made a sound, just ran up and nipped him where it counted. You would have thought I had taught him where to nip a guy, lol. I have often wondered how he explained that to his girlfriend/wife, hahaha.

Now on the other hand, Prince was a loyal and easy going guy with anyone allowed in the house or yard, so I trusted his judgement. I'm chuckling, just thinking about that night.

I forgot to mention earlier, now the power steering pump is giving me trouble!!!

Also, 1 other thing that I have replaced/repaired was a complete rebuilding of the tranny, so it would seem I have a truck almost like Johnny Cash sang about, a '90,'91,'92, etc. Almost spanking new!

Good for Prince, univited guests beware........Ha,ha.
Too bad about the ps pump though once a vehicle gets up in years it does need plenty of tlc, seems the fun never ends.

I can deal with the power steering pump, it's just a mechanical pump, lots easier than wiring!
I tried starting the truck first thing this morning, after the cable was left on all night - it started easily!! Now to figure was it the cable or the radio? Crossing fingers its the cable.

Yes Prince was my protector/gaurdian, I never felt afraid with him around, never locked the doors at home or on the truck. You might get in but you weren't leaving, he'd have you cornered! I sure miss him.

I can handle most mechanical items too.
Like my German Shepard, Utah, a dog like that would always be missed.

Yup, some of them stay in your heart forever.
Ok enough about dogs or I'll be in tears. Its pretty lonely up here and with no job/money and no Prince, its getting hard to stay cheerful and positive.
Trying to get the sump pump working in the basement, then on to steering pump, s***, never a dull moment!

You`ve got your hands full.
On the other hand my Bobcat work is pretty well done for the season unless we get alot of snow so there will be some boredom from time to time. Spring can`t come fast enough for me.

I don`t need any great amount of snow, been there and done the snow removal thing many times now.
We`re sitting at minus 16 and a high of minus 9 today, not too bad for this time of the year. Long term forecast is for only afew scattered flurries, lows in -27 range & highs -16 for the next week or so.
No problem on the typo`s, I`m without my usual spell checker on a borrowed computer.
