Actually, the connection bar at the bottom of the screen, never seems to go all the way across, then blank out, like it does on other sites, Hmmmm Maybe it's a warning .
Sorry, couldn't resist. What I lack in mechanical skills, I make up for with good humour.

Oh forgot, what class of driver's licence do you have? Do you live on a farm or something similar? HMMMM

Just asking out of curiousity.
Hey its no problem at all. I have what, 4 of these years of trucks, and I have a "thing" for them haha. I did ALOT of researching on the wiring of my own, when it had problems. Its not my daily driver anymore though, so it always gets put on the back burner. By helping you out with your problem, Im actually kinda helping myself too!

I have my class 1a. I actually used to work for a rathole company out of edmonton, and have been up to fort mac lots of times. One of the first camps I stayed at, was up Supertest, hang a left, thena bout a hour out in the bush. Some Chevron camp, but I cant think of the name of it right now, as that was a couple of year, and a TON of camps ago haha. (Best camp was right near conklin though!)

You have your 1a? Looking for work as a driver..?

Yeah I live on a farm also. Just out side of saskatoon by about a 15-20 minute drive. Love the farm, would never move into a city again, as long as I can help it!

Which way out of fort mac do you live? I actually heard that grid Iron rathole was paying 500 a day for drivers/assistants up there and was pondering that.

Also dont be shy to post in any forum on here. It really is a kickass site, and if you hang out long enough you will come to enjoy the people more then the info! You have your jerks, but thats like everywhere else in life!

And as for the dog, that I couldnt tell you. Im a german shepard, and lab/retriver kinda guy myself, and I actually found my pup online, guy had a litter of them, and this one was so damn cute I couldnt say no! It was really hard buying only one!

That is a pretty weird electrical problem though. First thing I would do is check under teh dash and see if there is any signs of water that has gotten in there. I would also search the forums here and do some reading, there is TONS of wiring issues that can be read about in the 87-96 forums. (does sound like a short somewhere though)

Test light is easy to use, hook the clip to ground, then the other end to test if there is power somewhere. If there is power, it will light up.

Voltmeter is pretty easy too, it measures the volts of a circuit, so just figure out what you want to test and you can get some readings.

example, to test your battery, or how much your alternator is charging, set your voltmeter to dv, and your settings to the nearest setting above 15 volts, red to positive, black to negative. the reading will give you how many volts your battery has. Start up the truck and do the same thing, will tell you how much its charging.

Of course the best would be to read the manual or whatever, cause each meter works different, and there are analog and digital, and you do have to be careful to set the digital ones correctly.

On Edit, ya beat me Jack!
Hi all
Can't got on to the site using a link through blackberry phone. New update on elec trouble. Aftrr running for an hour I turned it off for 20 mins. It restarted, but it wasn't easy ran it for 10 shut off to refuel and she wouldn't start! Got a jump, started instantly. Kept it going for the rest of the day but what now...? Try that test that I quoted, you have a very VERY similar problem as I have right now. Last time I took my 89 to edmonton (left the diesel here for a rest) I stopped in lloyd to get fuel and the exact same thing happened. When you restart it, does it kinda sound like its out of time...?

My boss from alberta called me the other day, and is begging for me to go back there, says they are needing some people really bad. If you can chuck some cement bags around, and withstand the typical male harrassment, I could see if they would consider ya. I wont lie to ya though, its alot of physical work, mixed with driving. Not the typical sleep all day haul a few loads of water a night water truck kinda job haha.

He was bleeding internally, and friggin vet waited for 2 1/2 days before operating - with no transfussions avail! He died in the OR while they were finishing. We had been together for 12 yrs! I still get really pissed about the vet,and wished for once in my life I had been a man!! Something isn't working right, I can't log in on this chapter from my computer, not even by clicking on the link from email alerts. Having to use blackberry cell, which is very slow and not a great cell signal here. I can log in on the regular site but not here - too weird! Also can or how do pm someone? What kind of dogs do you have?

So sorry to hear about your pup Northern Gal. That would tear me up too, I lost my GS to cancer after the best 10 years I`ve spent with any dog.
I have no idea why something isn`t working for you to log on, recheck your setting though I doubt that it`s that.
To pm someone click on their name and a window will pop up.

Don't have any driving exp.! but not afraid of hard work. Have done tons of labour work around here. I also have certificate from SAIT as an Oil and Gas field operator, running a battery, and no not the kind under the hood. It's a sattelite station for oil and gas wells.Being fromSask, you should know about them. So I'm not too dumb.

Was going to try the test when I got home, except neighbor came by and he tried a test, removing the cable from the neg post, and then removing a fuse, then tapping the cable to the post looking for a spark. He determined it was my radio. I disagree. The truck had run for 1 hour, then when I went in for the interview, I forgot to turn the switch for the heater fan off. She started reallyhard after that, then when I drove for a few mins. and went for fuel, it wouldn't start again. Oh well, he reattached the cable, and put it on so tight, I can't budge it to get it off, so guess I'll see in the morning.

I'm able to respond all of a sudden via the regular computer, but still only by the email link, too weird.

Ya, they found a mass on my guy's spleen, butstill they waited, the kicker is, I was standing at the counter in the lobby with the vet telling me to make him take it easy for a few weeks, then he was summoned to the swinging door behind him,and few quick words were whispered to someone, then he turned back to me and said "he just died"! Just like that, while I stood there. I dam near collapsed,I was in total shock. Still have a really, really hard time dealing with it. Sorry about your pup, they are like children/family to some of us.

It's strange that I can log on to the regular site, but not here. It even says, thank you for loggin in, etc. then won't let me do anything.
