The issues we're talking about won't cause a SES, cut outs, or that rough running. A CPS can still go bad, no matter what the color. Do you know anyone with a code reader that can scan the truck for you?

The phantom code issue causes an SES light and running rough...

I have no idea where it came from..I think it was my original black CPS I switched out for a grey when I was having my ICP issues, switched out the CPS to see if that was the issue. In any case, if anyone starts having problems and needs a black CPS, let me know.
Lisa...unfortunately...i just left the dealership and the gray CPS is screwing up my rig...and guess what...they can't even get a black CPS...International told me the CPS they offer is the gray one, and he has a black one, but no reference material to be sure it will work on our rigs...so, if your offer for 1 of your black CPS's is still on the table, i'm game...what would you take for it??? Let me know...

ATTENTION!!!!!!

We need to stop calling the CPS' by their Color!

This is important because:

Aftermarket CPS's from other companies dont pay attention to color. The one I am putting in my truck from Standard Motor Co. is black in color.

So I ask everyone from now on when you see people call CPS's by color we need to ask them to specify if it is a Original OE CPS. Once ford comes out with another Gray one we are all going to be horribly confused...

Just a thought.

10-4. I'll get it sent out.

This one is an OEM black CPS and was known to work in a 99, so I think you should be good.

Awesome...you're aces...i'm spending tommorrow doing the uvch quarter mod, hopefully that'll take care of the #7 misfire issue the dealership said i have...lol...and then, with the old, new CPS, all problems will be resolved and i can get to actually doing mods that make more power...lol...

I gave you some reps for this...i hope you got 'em...thanks again...

Something got lost in communication at my agency
I took my truck in for a transmission service and the recalls. I spoke with a girl service advisor (new to me):
Discussed my recall for the CPS and I told her I had purchased a new one and I had the receipt from Ford for it. She stated they would inspect it and they could reimburse me as they had done it before. I said I did not want them to change out the CPS in my truck.
The tech changed out the in the truck
When I spoke to him he said it was a safety recall and he was required to change it out.
I have done a lot business there, I have known my regular service advisor for years and he has been straight up with me with good advice. The Service Manager we know from doing business outside Ford stuff. And to top it off my I have a family member who oversees a fleet operation who contracts with them for their service also.
The tech who changed out the CPS I feel did what he felt was right and to ensure he did not do anything to jeopardize his job, especially in these times. Part of my thoughts on that is he personally knows members of my family.

So why the rambling on… well they comped me my transmission service, a lube job and a suspension inspection. Pointed out the wear on my brake pads (I will post this later). And the check is in the mail for the

We talk about Ford (agency, jokingly referred to) and the forum, I believe a edict may have been pushed out requiring this to be done.

Truck is running OK, I have not programmed it back up yet though and not driven far. We’ll see.
