with anything and apparently don't know how to troubleshoot it:
- Is it plugged in?
- Is it turned on?
- Is there paper in it?
printer won't print!" but they're my standard response to everything. The
unstated meaning is to check all the basics before calling me for help.
Let the customer get the authorities involved, it actually might be in your favor.
Customer had a problem and asked for service, you provided that service and
fixed their problem, and are wanting payment as per the contract's terms.
The primary thing that confused me in a recent post was the lack of the dollar
sign ($) preceding the 25, I had to think about all the other possibilities the 25
could be referring to - too much effort at 0600....
Hence, the three questions I I sarcastically ask when people have problems
with anything and apparently don't know how to troubleshoot it:
- Is it plugged in?
- Is it turned on?
- Is there paper in it?
printer won't print!" but they're my standard response to everything. The

I did mean to put $25/half hour, sorry about that.
One thing ya gotta consider is that everyone has the things they're good at. For some (you and me), it's computers. For others, it may be something like woodworking or electrical work. I mean, there's things that people I know are excellent at, but I'm no good at. Doesn't mean I'm an idiot, it just means I wasn't blessed with the same skills or talents as someone else.
Believe me haha, I only call them that now that they are fighting the contract they signed and dated 2 months ago.
'em get "the authorities" involved, I really doubt any "authorities" - assuming the
local police - will be able to do anything....
EDIT:
In legal terms, you will sue them for non-performance. Go down to your county court and
find the Clerk's office, ask them where the Small Claims stuff is... You'll have to fill out
some paperwork and, in my area, the Court will Serve the accused (Defendant) with an
Order to appear in court on the date your case is scheduled. You can also subpoena any
additional witnesses and/or evidence if you so desire. It's real court and follows the same
rules & procedures, the only difference is that YOU do some of the legwork.
In my area, the cases must be tried in the county in which the accused resides... cases
are limited to 30 minutes in front of a judge... each side gets 10 minutes to present their
case, then 5 minutes for a single response, then the judge issues a ruling (Judgment).
BUT.... this still doesn't guarantee the accused - who have now been found guilty and a
Judgment ordered in your favor - will still pay it; it is still up to you to collect on that
Judgment. If they still refuse to pay, you then have a few more options, including
garnishing their wages and affecting their credit rating.
You might go down to your local courthouse and sit in on some cases and just watch,
get a feel for what happens and what the procedures are.
I had some Business Law classes while in college and learned about all kinds of neat
stuff, and later sued a former tenant for damages done to my house.
I have confidence in saying this on here because I know that they are not bright enough to locate me on a forum.
I'm not kidding.
When I say that I will charge my minimum half hour rate (25 per30 minutes) to go out to your house, I am going to charge that rate.
Even if it is for something as simple as AN UNPLUGGED POWER CABLE.
... I told them that they should check every cable before I drove out.
Now they are threatening to get authorities involved.
IT'S IN MY EFFING CONTRACT! I need to pay for the gas somehow damn it.
