Why at 10? Just curious if it is for the eastern folks, because what about us folks on the left side of the country? I am getting shorted an hour or 2! (Like it really matters)

Sorry, meant to say 11 central time (so 12 eastern, and 8 western)

And I do that because I can :P

Announcement: Classifieds Re: '80-'86 Swap Meet FS/WTB

FTE is going to roll out a new forum for Classifieds. (FS/WTB) This should happen with a week. Be patient. It could be longer. This will replace the current Classifieds that are integrated with some forums. Ours was a bootleg thread, as we were not deemed worthy of our own link to the classifieds.

So our bootleg Swat Meet thread will be closed as soon as the new Classifieds are open for business. It will remain in view until Nov. 1st so the posters have a record of what they offered for sale or WTB and have a chance to repost in the new Classifieds.

If after Nov. 1st, FTE does not provide a link to the classifieds in our forum the Swap Meet thread will remain as a link to the new Classifieds although it may be renamed.

I had the chance to test the beta version of the new classifieds and it is pretty cool. So I think you will like it and it should do a better job of connecting sellers with buyers than our bootleg thread did.

Here is the official announcement from our administrator: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...assifieds.html

Wait, are we talking about the same thing?
I have a bulldog remote starter here, it's been sitting in my house for the last 5 years.
I don't know if it works with these older trucks though, instructional DVD is M.I.A

it is not exactly the same thing, but in the ballpark. like if you wanted to start your truck from in your living room( to let it warm up, for instance). right? or are you going somewhere else, completely?

I am not sure if it will work only because of the whole choke issue. Is it just to warm up the truck in the morning?

That is the main reason I want it in, Winter seems to be coming real fast now.

and yes, I don't have the block heater anymore, so I was wanting to install the remote starter.
How would the choke be an issue? Mine is not a manual choke, wouldn't it be the same as if I were in the truck?

IMO it would be the same, and i dont see the choke being a factor. my prob is i am "old school". 1986 is as far as i go, technologically.

I see the choke as a problem because you still need to set the choke in the morning by pumping the gas pedal. Why not get a second set of keys, start it up in the morning and lock the door with it running to warm it up. Then you use the second key to unlock it when you are ready to go? It just might be simpler.

Well, that defeats the purpose of letting it run while I try to get ready to leave haha.
That and I only want 1 trip in the cold, not 2 :P

And all i thought pumping the pedal did was dumping gas into the cylinders, i've never seen the choke adjust itself after having pumped for a while

Oh, and my truck is real old fashioned, 1 key for the door, 1 for the ignition (I HATE that)

It primes the carb so it starts easier jmeyer.

If you pop your hood and look into carb and push the throttle you will see gas mist into the carb.
