My 79 crewcab build thread (56K pics inside)
Just the pictures above Chase. I took it back down today and trimmed off the excess in the back. I have to fit it one more time to mount the dome light. I'm using one out of a Bronco with the dual spots. I ground the spot welds off the center rib piece for the original seam and removed that . Next I welded a piece of flat plate in to mount the light to. I'll get pictures tommorow when I head back down there.
I also went to the fabric store and got the material today.

78-79 I think used that style, it was the optional dome lamp with map lights.
And yes Supermotors has been real slow for the last couple of weeks.
Just thinking here, I got a brown Lariat headliner I put on ebay twice now and nobody bought it. I might pull those trim pieces out of the center of it and use it for this. We'll see.

The Bronco dome lamp with map lights had a different shape than the standard dome...any mods to the metal?
That's you? I saw that brown Lariat headliner twice, but my brown Lariat's headliner is fine albeit a little sag.

That is correct Chad, I mounted a piece of 18 gauge metal between the roof support right in the middle of the cab. No mods needed to the plate, it will work fine on a flat surface. I'll get pics tommorow.
That was me, notice the user id on ebay is the same as here and just about anywhere. I saw one sell last week, opening bid of 149.00 and it sold! It looked terrible, very loose material from the board.

That would be great, thanks. They should have been available on F-series among other spoiled goods...
LOL, I hardly look at user IDs, just items and move on. I don't get ebay sometimes. I just saw a jade green lighted passenger mirror end without any bids!

Subscribing to the thread Ranger.I wish I lived closer so I could enroll in Ranger's school of body work. The same thing needs to be done to my bed.And hood. But I got pretty lucky on the rest.Since my crew is my first ever project I just wish I had the knowledge to do all the work myself.
Thanks pvillebo.
OK, here is where I ground out the spot welds on the original center divider. I also added the flat plate for the dome light mount.

Final mock up of the headliner, fitted for size.

Dome light installed, still need to run wire.

Testing the glue on the headliner. I thought I'd try it without the padding for better adhesion but it looks much better with the padding. The countertop glue holds excellent and I have no fear of it seperating down the road.

No you don't have to worry about that kind of glue ever failing.I have seen my dad try to take off formica on 30 year old countertops and it tear and split where the glue was still holding it just like it was a week old.I am glad to see it turn out so well Ranger.I like the idea of the light in the middle of it also.I can't tell because my headliner is messed up so bad but judging by mine the only interior light overhead is above the back seat correct.
Correct, that was the only light inside the cab so this should make a big difference. I might even hit the junkyard and see if I can find one in LED before putting my final holes in the material.
You can never have to much light inside of a truck thats for sure.I have been trying to think of a vehicle that has an LED but I am drawing a blank right now.Do you know anything about the salvage yards letting you pick over the "cash for clunkers"? I saw where someone said their local salvage yard was doing it but from what I was told there is no need of even looking in their direction.
