geez, Pete, what a busy day. I was gunna ask you about how we were going to meet at the show. if you want, youre welcome to come down to my house. its only like a half hour from franklin.
actually Dave, this truck is rail ready and is actually on the AMTRAK mainline. this is under the bridge in Niantic. Its rare to catch these actually on the rails. the only other trucks i ever caught on the rails were a weedspraying "convoy" and they were all FORD L9000s.
The crews have been out for awhile working the overhead lines down here.
Mostly pouring cement around the base of the towers.
I wonder if the steel is rotting so they are just pouring cement around them till they reach up to sound steel.
Their maintenance yard is down here in Stamford, another one is up in New Haven.
Just the other day I was fueling my van in Stratford and one of their railroad ready trucks pulled in to refuel too.
really! me and my buddy go trainwatching all the time and were trying to catch work trains and other MOW (Maintaince Of Way) equipment. thats some good info that we can use. i hear that theres something like 50k cement ties that need replacing cause they've cracked. idk if its the steel thats rotting because I believe its galvanized.

Brian:
Last week it seems that every afternoon on my way south into work, I'd see three 18-wheelers heading north with cement railroad ties.
Down here its still the old riveted towers for the most part.
