I bought my early 03 new and I babied it thruout the years except for the occasional romps to blow it out and I got 119,200 on it now. Just a couple months ago I upgraded to a John Wood VB and the shifts are crisp and right on, one of the best investments I made for my trans, hope it goes another 119,200..

That's what we were told when I worked in Automatic Transmission Engineering at Ford. I didn't work on the 4R100, but I knew many people that did. The story that we were all told was that all the gas engine trucks had the diode replaced before sale. Apparently a few slipped through.

Yes it does. The 6.0L cooler is MUCH larger than either the 6.8L or 7.3L coolers.

I was on another forum, wish I could find it again, that had a local engineer posting on it.(by local I mean assembly plant engineer from the truck plant) and basically they were using diode transmissions in anything they needed them for until the fix came through. I will try to find the forum again, it was interesting.

Believe it or not, the V10 trans cooler is surprisingly bigger than the 7.3 trans cooler. I ran that for a little while before I was able to afford a 6.0 trans cooler. But there is no comparison between 6.0 trans cooler and V10 cooler; the 6.0 trans cooler is MUCH more superior.

That would be interesting reading if you find it, thanks. I guess you read Marks post. Thats strange.

Mine went out at 80,000, almost on the money.
Rebuild is guaranteed for 12 months or 12000 miles. Hope it last a lot longer than that.

Virtually indestructable....

Look down in the 6.0 and 6.4 forums and see how many trans failures you read about. From what I've read it can handle up to 1100 ft/lbs of torque

Not to knock the Torque Shift, but mine has failed twice, once at 12k (dealer fixed) once at 55k (I fixed). Both times the diode in the coast clutch drum let go.

I must admit the only Torque Shift that has come through my shop was my own

I think they are good transmissions.

Welcome to the club, it's not possible at the current time.

If I could be done, myself and other 7.3 owners with failed trannies would have done it.

Someone once posted about a TorqShift stand-alone controller they found somewhere on the web. Of course, I didn't keep a link.
