I had some time this morning to head to the yard to look for some 80/82 lock sliders for Em and didn't have any luck.
While I was there, I grabbed a pair of OEM wheels and center caps for my Flareside project. I really like the style of this wheel and for $6.00 each, they had my name written all over them. The 265/75 R15 tires are shot but hold air so I threw them on the truck to see how they would look.
I like them lots better than the junk that was on there when I bought the truck. Anyway, here are a couple of before and after pics. Don't mind the junk that's piled in the bed. I am really tight on space in my garage and that stuff is on it's way over to my storage unit.
Dang Stosh.I thought I got a good deal for mine at 10.40.But it looks good. Before I got the Chrome styled steels I was gonna get a set of 8 spokes for my F100.
I am thinking about splitting them at the factory seam and widening two for the rear. I'm going to see if I can make them about 10" wide. The idea is to cut the outside of the rim off and re-use the inside (wider) portion and weld it to another inside portion from a second wheel if you know what I mean.
It would take a total of 4 wheels to make 2 for the rear.
I have a design in my head for a machine to cut the wheels in two using an old axle, some bearings, a really large pulley and a 2hp electric motor that I have laying around.

That sounds like a cool idea, however i'm suprised at the idea of you cutting apart a factory wheel.I'm glad you can still find 8 spokes at the yards you go to,because after we got 10 of them for my dad's truck and trailer(4 for the truck,4 for the trailer, and 2 spare, there haven't been any showing up in the three yards I go to.There is one in my favorite yard, however it was off an engine burn truck,so it's all burnt.
I really like those rims Stosh. I am looking for a set of those for my '85, along with the trim rings with the red lines, but every set I find here locally are junk. You are one lucky dog to find rims in that good of shape in a junkyard.
In fact I think "Junkyard Dog" would be a good nickname for you.

Yooooo hoooooo, Hey uncle Stosh, yet another find! Oh how I wished I had them beautiful center caps on my truck.
I got me a #$%!@&load of tire foam, rim cleaner, caliper paint, etc.etc just waiting for a nice day and a fedex from good "ol Pencilveiniyey..............
I'm cutting apart a factory wheel cause I like the look but they don't make them in 8 or 10 inch widths.
My cousin has an '87 F-150 with those wheels that are 8" wide. They are original, and it says 15x8 on the door jam sticker as well. That is the only set of 8" wheels I've seen, though. They must be pretty rare. If anyone out there could find a set, I'm sure it would be you!
