meh... chevy can keep thier cookies i'll stay with ford! IMO i like the chains on my truck, from the dealer mine came with some sort of rubber hose like thing around most of the chain (will get pic one day) so no paint to scratch... and its DIFFERENT which is why i love the step/flair side.... with the 70ish dentside as the exception all other beds look the same, my far fetched dream would be to land a 30s-50s ish truck to drop a big v8 into with the step/flair side bed and a 3 on the tree stick.... make it 2wd add some drag slicks and hit the strip!!!!!
I'm not getting rid of the Chevy, I gave it to my dad.
We've been ironing out all of the little bugs in it, and we are just about to put it on the road.
For the $400 investment we have in it, I think it's a pretty nice truck and would have no problem driving it anywhere. It runs very well and doesn't look too bad either.
Unlike some here, I am NOT partial to any one vehicle manufacture.
But like Stosh said,it does seem to be a pretty nice Chevy.I'd drive it.Honestly,If I had to choose between a brand new half-ton truck,i'd have to go for a Chevy.I hate the look of the 97-present F150.
I'm not biased either...but if I have to keep fixing my sisters blazer, that could change. I just thought you would of given it too him by now. I can fully understand wanting to work out all the bugs before you hand it over to a loved one though.
hittman. just thought id help you out. its Flareside. not flairside. FYI. but you need to be getting so more pictures of your truck up dude.
why? at the moment its a peice of junk.....
but once i get the seat reupolstered, the amp i got in the garage put it, a paintjob, the speedo fixed, the gas gauge fixed, the AC fixed, the heater fixed, get a rebuilt motor dropped in, make the diff limited slip, redo the wooden bed, fix the hole in the floor, fix the oil leak, and it will be a fine peice of machinery!!!!!
Well, the 4WD TTB is history. I removed it today with the fire wrench. I thought it was going to be a straight forward deal converting from 4WD to 2WD.
Everything went pretty well until I started installing the Dream Beams and ran into a problem.
The radius arms on the 4WD TTB are wider where they attach to the end of the stamped steal beam and there is a lot of slop. I'll have to go back and grab the 2WD radius arms tomorrow.
I was looking at the truck that I pulled the Dream Beams off of again today, and I couldn't believe what I missed:
There is a complete bolt on spring hanger relocator and "C" notch kit installed on the back!!! It moves the front spring eye up about 4 inches from stock. Almost like taking the factory spring hanger off and flipping it upside down only beefier.
I'm taking mo' tools with me in the morning, and I'm ripping them out ASAP. I'll be needing them for the rear of my truck.
