Thanks for the help/clarification SB.
(However, I was trying to keep the subject on track in relevance to Ford vehicles, and Ford HID)
I'll post up some from my photobucket acct.

How about this one; (it's my example of a 9007, dual HID)

This actually is a TRUE "cutoff" HID, with forward shield (via dyed glass) and low beam cutoff (only over low beam pellet). Allowing high beam full reflector access (even though an H4 example - it gives you a great example of what your trying to do in a retrofit HID);

This is my example I've sent out to many manufacturers over the years, to explain to them... what they don't seem to understand, let alone the sellers and distributors here in the states;

LaxPlaya21 those headlights look great, projector without the ugly halos.
I have 9007 HID kit and it only has one i bulb, i guess is what they call it, but i have both low/high beams in my factory housing. I guess everyone is showing bulbs for the 2004 and up headlights.

Actually no, the 9007 I speak of is dual HID in one bulb, and is for all 9007 bulb types. So any year that takes 9007 can use these bulbs, which require the use of 4 ballasts and a fused/relay wiring harness

The H13 bulb type is for the newer vehicles, and if you'd like I can provide a picture of that (correct bulb type example) as well

The aftermarket headlamps I purchased have the halo rings, but they are wired separately. I chose not to wire up any of the "bling" lighting, so the halo ring just looks like part of the housing. It's clear and simply blends in to the chrome backing.

Yes, a lot of adjustment that takes a good amount of time to get them right. I was surprised how far off they were from the factory. I still have some fine tuning I want to do...hopefully this weekend!

No, you can't adjust the entire headlamp any more than the slight amount of wiggle room you have with the four mounting point screws. The headlamp uses the two 2001 turn signal mounting screws at the bottom and two more points at the top of the housing. I'll see if I can get pictures this weekend.

Best,

Brad

Usually H10 or H11 is the fog bulb type, and can be had on Ebay all day. Or if you'd like something a bit better than Ebay selection, service or quality.... PM me, I'll steer you in the right direction.

Hmm, I think I used a 9005 or 9006 to replace the 9145.

A 9145 is an H10.

9005 is common Chevy/GMC low beam, and high beam on some cars
9006 is common Chevy/GMC high beam
.... and many others.

Is there a way to make a shield to help prevent the glare with HID using stock housings? Kind of like this:

Custom fabricated HID glare shields

I think they should be on the bottom but he put them on the top.
Just curious

I've only seen something like that on an H4 bulb or 9004, I forget off hand to be honest, but I've never seen anything like this on an H13 or 9007 bulb.

You will also sometimes see this on factory HID type bulbs, like a D2S for example.

I have a 2008 Prius with factory HID's that are non-projector and while I've never taken them apart, I believe this is how they keep the light beam to only reflect on the top of the reflector housing.

For example, here is how they do some factory HID bulbs:

That is correct, they should be on the bottom.

Think of it this way, for low-beam

And with this picture, has low and high beam on at the same time, you'll get a better idea of how the reflector works on a stationary bulb;
http://www.ratwell.com/technical/BoschH4/H4Highbeam.jpg

And I just worked on a Touareg, that had "high beam flaps" ... like this;
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/iipcache/45717.jpg
... pretty cool idea, as it uses one bulb, one HID and the bulb never moves.

I just bought a kit from HID country and my question is do I need to use the relay harness that came with the kit or should is there a direct hookup to the factory harness light connectors?
