I'm still waiting for prices to come down on the larger curved LED light bars and thinking about where to mount one. I'm considering a magnetic mount rather than having something permanently attached. Or perhaps a 30-40" flush mount in the grille of the Ranch Hand. I'm not sure...

I did as you said and got the water proof led string. I used under hood magnets built for holding zip ties to hold the string. I dovetailed the LEDs into the hood tilt switch. It works well. I am in the process of adding strings on the ceiling of the bed shell. I used Velcro to hold to the felt ceiling lining and then attaching the LED string to that. I used a magnetic switch to the lift gate glass so the lights illuminate when the key is on that the glass gate is opened. I just got another string that I will add to the glass gate so more light will illuminate to the outside of the tailgate for loading or working to the rear. I found some tacky adhesive, similar to the stuff on the back of a new credit card, to hold the LED string to the lift gate glass.

I was curious if you had any recommendations for an under hood led light option. I'm looking at led light strips from super bright led site. Thoughts?

Sounds like you are really moving along! Good work bro! And def send me pics. [email protected]

I can't stand all of the threads about these HID kits, where people just replace their bulbs with a HID bulb. Now they are just glaring the shiiiit out of everyone on the road, and are actually decreasing the amount of usable light. They think the brighter the light the better... well unfocused bright light is useless. I used to go into those threads and try to explain to people that they are wasting their money. But after awhile I gave up trying to convince them. Some people thought it was better to spend $150 on a garbage kit than to pony up and spend $4-600 on some high quality projectors that were made for HID bulbs. I am glad you are taking the time to do it right. You will thank yourself when it's all done, and everyone that drives against you in traffic will too!

Also I did hit the chrome with some steel wool and I used Dupli Color self etching primer. Worked like a charm. I also hit the side marker lenses that were orange with some VHT Nightshade. I havent seen them with light behind them yet but I am impressed so far. I might have to upgrade to LED because they look pretty dark.

Thanks for the reply. I figured I could get quite a bit of travel from the stock adjustment screw. I finished one light and just finished painting everything else. I am looking to black out the whole front end of my truck so I bought the Harley Davidson lights and am doing the retrofit on them. Plus I figured this would give me plenty of time to work on them without taking the stock ones off my truck. I painted the reflectors black and actually painted everything on the projector light black except for the lens of course. I bought a setup from theretrofitsource.com. $330 with free shipping. The kit came with everything, bulbs (5k), projectors, shrouds, ballasts and even a wiring harness. I am interested to see how the wiring will go but I am a couple days away from that. If you want I will email you some pics. I have been taking some along the way so I can post on the forums. Thanks again for the help.
