... can't say much without getting the MODs worked up when it comes to "where" and "how much"....etc. Did you read the thread I linked to? It addresses your questions.

And no, there aren't OEM HID for Super Dutys or Excursions, I think you misunderstood, or I didn't explain correctly. I can answer all your questions in a PM (Private Message) if you'd like.

Those are the poor quality bulbs as far as light output goes. They are not designed properly for hi/low use.

Is that from the DDM kit?

If you have a ballast/ignitor with the right plugs you could use the bulbs that Johnny recommends and optimise the output of the factory headlight.

Here are a bunch of pics from the 4300k Airtime HID kit I put in several weeks ago in my 2004 F350....

HID vs. Stock @ dusk

Mounted the slim ballasts up front

Low beam @ night

High beam @ night

High/Low @ night

Head shots

All in all there is very low glare. I have yet to be flashed from the glare and I've been using them for over a month now. I have installed a diode that came with the kit so it allows the use of the low beams while the high beams are selected. This provides AWESOME output. I can see everything. Next up is my 4300k foglights.

anyone got pictures of the bulbs they are putting in? i have a set i put in my F350 this weekend that i pulled from my mustang that i traded in, just wondering if anyone has noticed a difference in which way the bulb goes in. On the Mustang if the blue strip was on the bottom it was a whole different view than if the strip was on the top. My set are 9007 dual beam 8000k. Johnny do you have a picture of the box in which yours come in?

The bulbs shouldn't really be reversible.

The bulbs in the Airtime kit are dual element and require 2 ballasts per bulb assembly.... 4 total for the headlights.

I'll get pics shortly....

Sure, I have pictures of my bulbs (also in my "group buy" locked thread ~ I can't post anymore pictures as they have a business name on them)... 9007 aren't reversible, they are keyed for top, bottom and sides (to put it simply) and the box they come in is irrelevant, they aren't packaged for re-sale. So really... I've put together the "kit", which is from (high-end) components I use on another project. The bulbs... those things took me a good long year to find. And now, I have them made in 4300K.

I also have hids but mine are in a 99 mustang i do like them alot but do tend to agree with bear river thats, why when you look through a pair of yellow safety glasses things look sharper and clearer unless you get the plug and play and the dual beam hids i would say don't do it but thats just what i think, i just did it for looks for my car.

Hey yall, just joined the forums today in hopes of getting some questions answered.

I read through most of this thread and my brain is overloaded with everything that was said.

It seems like getting HID bulbs and throwing them in the stock housing = bad/dangerous.

HIDs in the correct housing = ok/not illegal?

Im looking to replace the whole headlight housing and put in something like this (see links below) on my dads 08 f-350 for his Bday. I am making my dad the guinea pig on this and if he and I like the results of whichever housing I get him...Ill be switching mine out for something similar on my 04 f-350....
My question is this; Which housing is the best if I want HID capabilities? Does anyone have experience with these housings or something similar? Is there a big difference between HID lights w/ projectors VS. xenon headlight bulbs or H1 (in an aftermarket housing)?

1.) 08-09 Ford F250 F350 F450 CCFL-Halo Projector Headlights KS Black /w Amber Reflectors (pair) + HID Xenon Lights Kit Package

2.) Recon Accessories: Part # 264196BK - SMOKED Projector Headlights Ford Superduty 08-10

Correct me if I am wrong but the first housing comes with an HID kit as an option (Digital HID for example in drop box menu) and the second housing comes with H1 style bulbs with the ability to upgrade to xenon style. If I liked the style of second housing, is it possible to put an HID kit in it?

Any advice, knowledge, or tales of good/bad experiences are most welcome!

thanks in advance
