Well its basicly done I still need to turn down the timing and posibly the fule, guess the litle 6.9 doesn't need as much fule as the 7.3.
I popped the BB injectors out of the 6.9 and now know why the IP on the 6.9 took a dump one of the injectors would not open I had 5,000 psi on it and it wouldn't budge

Yeah I dove it around the shop a bunch of times Roll'n cole and listening to it cackle at high rpm. I set my boost at 6psi because I didn't feel like sticking my hand by the 300+ degree turbo for 1 more psi. my next mission is to figure out how to get a 900lb engine out of the bed of my truck and into the garage I'm guna get at my apartment. and the 600lb ish alison. I still need to get it registered and drive it down the street to see if i fixed my converter clutch problem, hope fully it was just the bad conections at the batteries.

Good, at least you know you have a running engine. My boost is 6 psi, I once saw 7 briefly. I'm thinking about backing my fuel off a half flat. On the 23 of april I leave for new mexico, thats 1800 miles, I want everything in good shape. I get some smoke under power up to about 2100 rpm. In the ats Literature, the manufacturer says at sea level 2-3 lbs of boost will burn all the fuel an IDI engine can handle. At 5000 feet altitude 3-4 lbs of boost is required, and at 10,000 feet altitude 7psi boost is required. The factory setting is set at 7.5 to 8 lbs of boost. I think I'm giving my truck a tad too much fuel.
Would a portable engine hoist lift that engine. I have one that claims it will handle 2000 lbs, the biggest engine I had on it was a 454 chevy. It was no problem.

Use some boards to make a ramp and slide it out/down.
I use a tree and a comealong to unload and load many things like a ztr mower, 2,000 lb sqare bail of alfalfa, enines, c-ment blocks, large tool box, ect. Works great. Just find a good solid branch and a HD comealong, not that cheap thing from harbor freight.
Man this is a long thread for an egnine swap!!. Last IDI swap I did took a little under 4 hours. When I got the old engine on the ground, it was still too hot to touch. No joke but Just giving you a hard time, its fun. I havn't even been following this thread. Been to busy to check up every day...
Yeah this is a long swap, but it is his first. My first took over a day and the last one I did took a little over 4 hours. A portable engine hoist will handle this engine fine, It won't lift it high enough to get it in and out of the engine compartment. I use a tractor front end loader to pull the engine out and back in, but on the back in part I set it in the hole with the tractor and then pick it back up with the engine jack to manuever it.
We have cherry pickers at work that almost went high enough to get it over the core suport I just had to gab it where it was tilted way forward scoot it in then set the in and regrab it to stick it in. I'm just trying to figure out how to get it out of the bed of my truck and in to the garage I'm getting at my apartments. I was thinking about getting a bed mounted hoist/crane to lift it out but not realy sure if i would ever use it again or maybe bite the bullet and get a cherry picker.
The biggest thing that slowed me down was i took it apart more than 6 months ago so I kept putting things on then having to take them apart to put something els on and trying to find all the bolts I had layed out on a tarp in the back seat got all mixed around ferom all the times its been moved since it was apart.
Well i got it all registered up today and ists a good thing since I busted a spring hanger on my jeep today as well. Oh well thats just the way it gose.
