I looked into that aslo but then I'd have to get a trailer big enough to pull my dually behind it. Plus my truck is much more comfortable for a long trip.
I went through all of this when I moved from Colorado to Iowa.
These days biggest trailer u haul has is a 12 foot long 6 foot wide enclosed. I asked them why and they basically told me that most people can't haul anything over 12' - people were getting into accidents with the larger trailers and flipping their vehicles.
Jim when I was considering purchasing a trailer for my move, I ran across some very affordable car haulers. Seems to me most haulers would be easily to build sides for....a nice tarp over the top to keep stuff dry.
I got a good laugh out of it. I thought my dad's chebby was overloaded when he had 12 heifers(1000lbs each) in a dual axle cattle trailer.(hitch was about 2 in off the ground) That is nothing compares to the idiot that tried hauling that huge log.
Im gonna have to pull out the pics of when i moved from Sask, to BC, and back!
18 foot car hauler, built 6 foot sides and packed it right full!
Towed it there with my f150(way to heavy but the f150 made er) and towed it back with the diesel. Bought the car trailer for 3000 bucks, sold it for 2750 (if i remember correctly).

That is one of the things that I am considering. I did that with my landscape trailer. It is 6x10. I enclosed the back of it to bring some stuff to FL. The u-haul trailers are junk too. Anything over 55-60 and they sway like theirs no tommorow.
That;s a good idea Chris plus if we do move to Texas it may be easier to sell it there.
I'd suggest you check out the craigslist adds in Texas so you have an idea what a similar trailer will sell for down here. That should help you figure out how much you can spend on a trailer. Search cattle trailer, stock trailer, & livestock trailer.
