I personally am liking the warmer weather. Makes motorcycling a lot more comfortable.
Yea its starting to get a little colder here, not to cold to ride though.
Keep having chances of rain in the forecast though, so thats killing me.

The 2nd interview is with the 2 owners and the production manager. From there they all decide which of the two is going to get the job. So now I just have to wait. They want to have some one in place within the next week or so.
I hope you get this on Jim, Fingers crossed for you.
Brent Deere used to used backhoe controls in their excavators in the early-mid 90s. Our 490 was originally equipped with backhoe controls but we had the lines swapped around so it uses excavator controls now.
I am able to run both, but I'm smoother on excavator controls. Dad can't run backhoe controls. Backhoe controls are nice for loading trucks if you've got an itch. You can use your right hand to itch since you can swing and boom up with your left. That's about the only advantage of them.
On most mini-excavators there is a pattern switcher. I know on the baby hitachis have it under the panel that is below the seat on the left side as you're in the seat behind a little flap. I believe the Bobcraps have it behind the seat if I remember correctly. Deere would be the same as hitachi since they're the same machine. I've never run a CAT mini so I don't know about them.
And Brent a 120 isn't big iron. Call me when you're running a 330 or larger.
And of course now Tom will come along and show me up. lol I bet he'll say "Oh a 330 is tiny. We've got a 395."
Edit: And Tom is there any way you could hook me up with some seat time in one of those beasts?
Evening, all. I think I'm getting sick. I've got a sore throat at the moment. Probably didnt help that I was out in the rain overseeding the lawn yesterday.
Pete I call BS on the "get your feet wet in the cold" or "staying out in the rain" you don't get sick because of the weather, you get sick because of germs, disease. Also being trapped inside with a whole bunch of other sick people (office, school)

Brent the decks look good and are definitely wet, cedar can be kinda soft though.

I have ran a few different machines and can adapt to the controls with some seat time. The bigger the better but running a smaller machine is simular you just need more room. You can lift or carry more with the "Big Iron" but the capacity of the bucket is relevant to the size of the machine, so the action is the same.
FWIW, I think Brent was comparing controls on same brand equipment of varying size.

sure. move out to Pennsylvania and i will set you up in the quarry.
there are even some P+O shovels there
I gotta like, you know, make an appointment and stuff. That and I have a new job with new insurance so I gotta figure out 1) where I can go and 2) what my copay will be and all that. Whatever I have it is not life threatening.
Stalling technique.... equal in BS to the "apple a day" thing.... as motivated as you are in getting work, etc. done, it's almost comical to watch you drag your feet on this... and the worst part is that you're only making it worse on yourself AND you know it!
I'll be sending out a PM shortly to start a pool on how long it takes Lisa to not only 1) sort out her insurance stuff (an hour job MAX), 2) to then make the appointment, and 3) to finally actually go. A separate pool may be needed on the details of her following the doctor's advice.
Good morning all! I'm going to the wedding of a friend of a friend. Their date bailed last-minute, so I get free grub and to harass a fresh group of people! yeehar!!
Hey Lisa, you said you like the more rustic decks? How about these.
Tight knot cedar with galv 4x4 grids. Attachment 17718
Or the ever favorite, tight knot cedar decking, with tight knot rails and 2x2 pickets. Attachment 17719
Here's a close up of those rafter tails for you that you liked. My own design, but not exactly patent material..lol Attachment 17720
Sweet. I like the look of the cedar decking, but Jason is right. I'm tough on stuff and I'd probably find a way to put a nice GASH in that wood. I do really like those rafter tails. Just a neat design feature that catches your eye.
My next house I buy, I want to try my hand at cutting and installing my own wood floors...none of that pre-manufactured crap.

Don't you bet on me (or against me). You and I both know I can probably whop your ***, and it's tempting. If I had gone to the hospital this week, I would've had to go to the emergency room. You and I know that's stupid. If I wanted to blow a thousand bucks, I'd buy stuff for the truck.

Agreed, $1000 is better spent on the truck. But I still say you'll spend more time THINKING about sorting your insurance and then procrastinating, than the actual time it will take to figure it out. Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong....

As for you whooping my ***....
I am a procrastinator when it comes to doctors. I hate them. Ok I said that wrong. I don't hate them, I just don't like being prodded, and I don't like being told I have to take all this medication. I take ZERO (0) medication right now and I like it that way. So I am going just to find out whats wrong, and if they want to put me on a bunch of meds they can forget about it.
As for whopping your ***...yes. I'd have to catch you first through. I have my ways of drawing you in close enough that I can grab you.

Cedar is soft, no doubt. It's nice on the feet though, if maintained. The wet deck, is actually a hardwood, it's Mahogany...

Most things are better wet in my professional opinion.
Good morning to you, Huntress.
I'm outta here kids, another long day awaits.
Hey Pete, I know the 120 isnt much, but out here, there isnt a big need for much bigger. Sure, a couple jobs needed a JD 790, but thats a big machine just for a house foundation. Keep in mind my frost depth is only 18''. I'd love to meet you sometime, I'd really like to talk about some tips and techniques on these things. I have no doubt you are more experienced than I. Till then, I'll keep posting pics of my lil tractors!
