I gotta Galaxy Star 959DX (love the freq counter) mounted under the center dash. I keep my Texas Star 500w linear behind the rear bench seat. Anyone know a good CB shop I can send my stuff out to, to get fixed? I sound like crap on the DX, and need to get cleared up. Any suggestions?

I've had good luck with Clay's in Texas. CB Radios including Motorcycle Intercom Systems I bought my replacement DX73V from them and my dad got his GPS/Satellite radio mount from them too.

Man I've been checking out Clay's shop and they got a kick *** 1st class operation going there! Hell I'm gonna send my stuff to him, tell him to tune it with a brand new Wilson 5000! I'm partial to whips because I can unscrew them pretty easy to get into parking lots and other low clearance places.
Sarge I like your setup, that's what I have been looking for. Do you have the Havis Shields part number?
Thanks
Mike
Mike,
Heres the part number from the Havis web site. C-AS-940-8. Its the 9" consonle. I put some nut serts in the floor and mounted it that way. Its real solid.
If your CB mic comes out of the side of the unit it will not fit in the console. You will need to buy a new one...I had to but it was a good time to upgrade the old Uniden.

I wish I would have checked them out before I bought my new Cobra. I would have bought it form them and had a tune up too. I am thinking about getting the Wilson 500 with the 52" whip. I have a K-40 now and I put it in the stake pocket but I dont think I have a good enough ground. So I was going to get another magnet mount for the roof and run it through the 3rd brake light down the head liner. Not sure what to do now that I saw his site.
I ran my coax through the 3rd brake light too to a mag mount on the roof. I actually cut a small bit of the light plastic to better fit the coax, and then sealed it with silicone. I'd be interested to see where on out trucks you get the best groundplane from- roof, tool box or????

I did the exact same thing, works great and makes for a nice neat install.
I think thats the way I am going to go also. I already ran my Sirius antenna through there so the CB shouldnt be an issue. I think I am going to go with the Wilson 500 52"...should get me what I am looking for.
Did you guys put anything under the magnet to keep the rust ring in check. When I had my other truck I used a terry towel but I didnt leave it on the roof like I am going to do with this truck.

Thanks a lot going to order one today! The way it looks it would also be a good place for a couple of gauges and switches.
Yeah, if you tell them what you are going to put in there they give you the correct mounting plates and if you dont use the whole console, you can fit 3 radios in it, you get blank plates. This is where I am going to mount my Fuel Pressure, Amp, and Coolant temp guages....ahh the work I create for myself.

Hey Sarge- on my last magnet mount I put some wide tape I had on it, preservation tape for taping up aircraft, but good old black electrical tape will work too. I did it mostly to prevent scratching the paint if I ever needed to move the mount.
