I dont think they should redesign everytime a new year comes out, but I just dont understand that if OHC puts out sooo much more power than OHV, then why do they supercharge the engine? Why does Chevy stick right with Ford in power, and they havent put any kind of forced induction on their engines. Horsepower TV devoted a whole show to the 4.6 OHC engine, and praised it, and how OHV was the ancient design.

I go to college here in NY for automotive and diesel mechanics. There are about 25 guys in my class about 10 ford guys 10 chevy guys and 5 dodge guys. Every chance those chevy guys get that is all they do. MY truck is better than yours, that is ugly, thats a stupid idea, that motor could'nt get out of its own way. Us ford and dodge boys never say anything about that to chevy guys. We could care less. I find it funny that they say all this until they get beat and they shut up. One day in the paring lot we had a truck pull. We put a 96 F-150 302 auto bumper to bumper with a 91 K1500 with a 350 and a 5 speed. Both were in 4 low, guess who won. Yup the ford he dragged him about 10 feet with all four of the chevys tires spinning. The ford never spun a tire. I have never laughed so hard in my life.
Another thing is that all those chevy boys think that the "Chart" numbers mean everything. They are always saying look at the charts and you will see who has the power. I dont know about you guys but i go by what i have seen in REAL LIFE situations. Here at out county fair we have had a 4X4 truck pull for about seven years. For those seven years ford had won all but one. But a chevy didn' win that one year a Dodge did. The first three years of that pull some guy in a piece of crap 69 ford with a 460 and a four speed won. Then some other 460's won and then that one year a dodge V-10 won. The only reson he won is because the biggest ford there was a 351. Then last year a 2000 F-250 with a Powerstroke won. Man was that impressive He full pulled twice, the high pitch of the turbo hurt your ears. Man that was awesome. IF you dont come to this pull with ford 460 or a powerstroke you are gonna lose. You would be suprised at the number of chevys that show up with 350's (chevys god). A chevy with a 454 got beat by a dodge 360. Those new Hd are a joke they didnt get very far. The only trucks that i have never seen pull are a new duromax, 8.0 and a ford V-10. It will be interesting to see when they do come. Well i think that is enough for now. What do all the rest of ya think.
I think you need to get out of the county and listen to more then just the chevy guys in your class. I'm a Chevy guy and I tell it the way it is. I rarely belittle another brand. The only beef I got with Ford right now is the way they are handling customers with problem superdutys. I think between Cummins and International they really got the ball rolling with deisel pickups

I'm not sure anyone said OHC is way more powerful than OHV, it's just that they are more efficient and can theoretically spin higher rpms because they don't have pushrods to abuse. And a 4.6 vs a 5.7? What kind of comparison is that? Of course you'll need S/C to have a smaller performance motor beat a bigger one. But the question is, would chevy be able to sell a supercharged motor and still have a factory warranty on it?

Oh, and speaking of the GM vs Ford reliability, and this is an apples to oranges comparison, but my 77 F-150 has had the engine replaced once, and the tranny rebuilt once. My dad's 92 Silverado has had two engines replaced and the tranny rebuilt once and replaced twice. I can't see any justification in "GM is more reliable." My 27 year old Ford truck has been more reliable than a twelve year old chevy. And I usually drive mine more to boot.

Well from what i've seen on this site, too many assumptions are made on "my buddy has....", "my dad has....", "my cousin has...". Ok, maybe you did have Chevy that had to have 2 engines replaced, but thats not going to convince me since every Chevy my family has driven has given us over 130,000 each, and not one problem. Besides our 2 Explorers our Fords havent given us any problems. I just like to see true facts not "my buddy has...".

As far as supercharged car engines go, the Cobra makes 390 hp. I've not seen the Chevy car that's comparable.

The Corvette, but that's not blown

If it were me buying I'd still take the Stang though.

Dang, I keep forgetting about the Corvette. Just doesn't seem in the same class as Chevrolets.
