My co-worker owns a silverado and i have the f150. he thinks his truck is bigger badder and faster than mine. It seems that every truck owner i meet prefers the silverado over the f150! even f150 owners! What the hell is wrong with these people? Anybody can see just by looking at the 2 trucks that the ford is much better built than the silverado. silverados look like an old mans truck. (no offence old timers).
As far as I'm concerned, I'm Ford all the way. I don't care what happens, I'm for Ford.
Now, I will be honest... I don't really care for those extra skinny doors on the regular cab 04 F-150's, but hell, it works for what it was made for. Easy, behind-the-seat access. Chevy's are okay, but Ford's are much better .

For me, reliability rates very high on the list when I buy a vehicle. In '90, I bought a new Ranger and after 7 years and 84K miles, I had only spent about $100 on non-routine maintenance on it (I do my own maintenance so that's just parts). It even had the original brakes on it when I sold it!. So, I bought a new '97 F150 Supercab with the 5.4 and after 7 years and 104K miles, I had spent $0 on non-routine maintenance! Yeah, I had to clean the IAC motor because it wasn't idling good and had to solder a broken wire on the brake switch but that' it. I hope my '04 is nearly as good.....
Now for the Chevy. I have a friend that has a '96 C1500 and it has been nothing but trouble. New rear axle before 20K miles (leaking), replaced valve body in tranny at 19K miles, new transmission at 69K miles, just to name a few. This truck has been babied beyond belief (never towed ANYTHING) and the tranny fails at 69K! Another guy at the office had a'98 Tahoe and the tranny failed at 72K (again, never towed anything). The first guy's father was buying a 2001 Silverado from the dealership he worked at when he retired and they told him he better buy the extended waranty because the transmission would probably fail at 70K miles!! HELLO, GM can't fix a major problem like that in 5 years!! What a joke.
Yeah, what is the matter with these people. You can tell the quality difference by looking at any similar part between the two truck. For example the rear axle in the Ford has something like an 11 1/4" ring gear and I'm pretty sure the Chevy only has an 8.5" or somewhere in there. Everything is like this, the new 150's are awsome looking and driving pickups.
used to like the look of the chevys but now when i see them, they look really old for some reason. we rented one before we brought this truck and the ford feels better, feels like it handles better probably because the cheveys come with 16s i think and it feels more solid. i dont think its faster because of the weight but i dont know.
I'm not brand loyal. If the Chevy were the better truck, I'd be in one right now since I test drove both. The looks and performance of the Ford are superior, that's it.
