GJFlatliner and jkritson: You must have been joking there right? I have seen so many new GM's with major problems that I know you're talkin' b/s. A man that works where I go to school at bought an 03 silverado and he burned up a tranny at less than 100 miles. The dealership gave him a new one and he traded it in on an FX4 Ranger. I congratulated him on learning a valuable lesson, and making a smart move. Something else, why are most tow trucks and ambulances Fords? Why is there not many GM tow trucks and ambulances? It's cause they need a reliable truck to do those jobs. But I must say that Chevrolets and GMC's make excellent trailers. Point is, you need to get your minds out of the gutter and act like you have a little common sense.
Let me just start by saying how STUPID it is that the chevy owners come to a ford trucks forum, and start bashing FORDS! If you want to bash Fords, do it on your chevy forums, maybe they give a damn... Now, since I read a post about chevy having best in class torque, I found something that might help clear things up a little. At www.pickuptruck.com there is an article about a diesel shoot-out between Ford, Chevy and Dodge. Competed on flat ground, with and without a 12,100LB trailer, on 7% grade, and 15% grade. Guess who came out on top in EVERY test... FORD! Check it out at http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/stories/2003shootout/page1.html
Read through all of the pages and look at the facts. There you have it, realworld situations, towing and not towing, Ford still comes out on top. Now I know this has nothing to do with Lightenings, but either do 75% of the posts on here. If you want to bash Fords, do it in your own forums. When you break your chevy and buy a Ford, then come talk...

Ok guys just for on second think about what your comparing, i came across this site by accident and just shake my head at your theries, i was so mad had to reply. Next time you go to race a 454ss ask him how much boost he is running his reply will be 0! Yeah thats right no supercharged 454ss big difference and just to maybe broaden some of your narrow minded heads gm has and s10 will a turbo 4.3 v6 that run 13 second 1/4 mile dead stock, race one of those least they'll make you run for your money.
Originally posted by kota on 20s hehe, well im nowhere near 9's, but i eat bowties when ever i get the chance i LOVE when they say "yea i have 285hp" and then they put it on a dyno and only make 175RWHP when is chevy going to stop lying to their customers?
its funny how a 4.7L dodge engine ratted at 230hp at the crank makes 199-205 RWHP, and a chevy 5.3 ratted at 285HP at the crank makes 175 RWHP. whats going on here?
ARE YOU SERIOUSE! My 82s built 4.9L is making 210 at the rears!
This chevy vs. Ford rivalry. I have never had such a good time reading this thread. The loyal bowtie guys really let it out didn't they. Some of them are really cocky arn't they. In all honesty us ford guys can get that way too. I was looking over at other sites.Dodge and G.m. trying to find a similar forum Gm vs the competition but nothinf over there like that. Seems like they don't run fordsdown over there much likewe run Dodges and chevy over here. on this site. Hard to run down a great truck like a ford. There goes those Chevy guys again. The keyboards are hot. Keep responding. I hope this thread never dies. You chevy guys respond also. Keep us Ford boys in place. I can't get enough.
I'm a GM fan, but I'm gonna play the devils advocate here. I saw on ana earlier post "i counted 32 Fords broek down whole I was going up a mountain". I'm gonna put it like this Fords break down, Chevys break down, Dodges break down. And heres to the "I've pulled a million Chevys out with my Ford, boy were they embarrassed" or "I've pulled a million Fords out with my Chevy", Fords get stuck, Chevys get stuck, Dodges get stuck. But I do have one question for the Ford fans, Why does Ford resort to supercharging so quickly if OHC is a much better design? The Cobra was putting in the neighborhood of 380HP, in 2002, the final year of the Camaro, the Camaro SS was putting out 325HP naturally aspirated. If Chevy had a supercharger, we're talking over 400HP. But like I said I'm not trying to come on here and be like "Fords suck blah blah blah", becuase my Fords got 120,426, and not one trip to the shop, so I'm nto complaining, except for the 4.6 is a little weak.
The non-supercharged 4 Valve 4.6 in the Mach 1 Mustangs makes about the same RWHP as what GM's LS1 F body's do. Not bad for a 70 cubic inch displacement disadvantage. The cars are also capable of running very low 13's bone stock.

It's easier and cheaper to supercharge an already existant engine, than design a completely new engine/driveline just for one vehicle.
"It's easier and cheaper to supercharge an already existant engine, than design a completely new engine/driveline just for one vehicle."
So does this backup the argument that Ford focuses on mass production, instead of quality?? Oh and BTW, I might get roasted for this one, but to bust Ford fans bubble, the only reason the mustang is still around is because every high school girl has one. I go to a school of 900 people, I'd say about 125 people drive, 8 red mustangs, 1 white one, 1 black one. Everyone is a V6, and everyone is driven by a girl, so to say high school girls are keeping "Americas last muscle car" alive is an accurate statement. I'd like to see how many V6, Gt's, Cobras have been sold, the V6 would be through the roof.
You are all confused. If you were a car maker and you had a high performance line of cars would you SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY to design and build a separate engine for every little change of mind you might have on power when you already have a very potent and capable engine?
With your thinking, you'd make a 5.0L for Sunday, a 5.1L for Monday, a 5.2L for Tuesday, a 5.3L for Wednesday, a 5.4L for Thursday, a 5.5L for Friday, and a 5.6L for Saturday, how economically logical is it to do that?
As to the remark about the young girls being the only Mustang drivers, I beg to differ. Look at people who have a GT or Cobra sitting in the garage just waiting to go cruising on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Sure the Mustang is a chick magnet, but also can move like a bat out of hell.
