you would be amazed at how many extra looks my missus gets when drivin my truck, you would be in bloke heaven over here lisa. lol. F trucks are few and far between here so you get looks but when they see a chick drivin she always gets a second glance, if not a thumbs up... she loves it.. lol
LOL! I'd love to go to Australia. I wouldn't mind being in bloke heaven so much either.

good morning all!! it was 25* out this morning when I took the pups out, and with no wind, it felt WARM!!!
fun thing I noticed today: my bruises from my snowboard biff on Sunday finally are showing today!! that's some stupid deep bruising, and so far they're small....
Oh yeah, and I decided to keep the Passat and sold the Subaru. I received the parts for the Passat yesterday, so I decided to do the driver's door handle so I could again open it from the outside. First try and I didn't route the integrated wire properly, so it was binding... ggrrrrr.. Second try has it working beautifully!! Butter smooth!! I was stoked!! So I'm testing everything, and on a VW, you can do a bunch with the key in the door:
Unlocking:
1) 1 twist forward will open the door you have the key in
2) a 2nd twist forward will unlock all doors, truck, and fuel door
3) holding the key forward on 2nd twist will roll down all windows
Locking
1) 1 twist back will lock the door you have the key in
2) a 2nd twist back will lock all doors, truck, and fuel door
3) holding the key back on 2nd twist will roll up all windows
So I'm testing it all and everything is working perfectly! Car is locked up tight, and just for giggles, I pull the driver's door handle.... yep, with everything supposedly locked, the door popped right open!! yep, I had to laugh... it's frustrating, but I tell you what, actually having an external door handle (and not just a hole there!) is great. Having it worked when you pull it is a joy! Now, if I can get it to actually lock up, I'll be ecstatic!!
I want to know how it is smart enough to lock and unlock your truck?
LOL.... Actually, I'll take the snow in a heart beat over the rain that came down, then froze, then the sleet that fell on top of it. All the trees and power lines have a good 1/4"+ coating of ice on them. Snow is no biggie, but ICE storms SUCK!!! I get a kick out of some folks up north that don't understand the weather down here. It's just where it can be warm enough to rain, then drop below freezing to ice everything over, then cover with sleet. Then they laugh at us when nobody can go anywhere. Yeah, try driving on roads of solid ice.....
HOWEVER.... When it does snow here (pretty rare), the folks think it's an ice storm and get just as scared. That *IS* kind of funny......

Actually, up here we do get some pretty nasty ice storms. I have seen TWO so far since I have lived here. One was before it snowed, one actually happened after we had snow on the ground, which made for some pretty extreme driving weather. Remember when I told you guys I fell down and hurt my tailbone (which is just now feeling better)..that was the day after a pretty bad ice storm here.
Never seen an ice storm in Colorado though. Not sure why.
I know there are some places that get it, and some don't. St. Louis gets it now & then -- I think it was back in 2006 where one of my buds up there was without power for almost two weeks. One of the trees in his front yard came down across his driveway and he couldn't even leave!
Hey Chris -- there is some interesting coverage on NBC5 right now. I'm getting a kick out of the news folks commenting on the cars stuck on the Mix-Master in Ft. Worth.
EDIT: Oh, and I'm glad your butt is feeling better, Lisa. What a relief! I could hardly think of anything else......

Yeah, but yours melts fairly quickly. Our ice storms stay around all winter. lol

LOL..yep both our ice storms are still there...they are just covered up by a bunch of snow. Actually all the driving we've been doing up and down the driveway, we've worn off a lot of the residual snow and revealing all of the ice beneath. Sunday when Adam came over, I fell down like at least 5 times because there was this one particular spot in front of the truck that was really slick.
Thats one thing we dont get as often up here is ice storms, and im glad of that! That makes everything crappy, cant even go for a walk after one of those!

Sure, but you all get it enough that everyone knows what to do, and you have enough clearing equipment. Here, it's rare enough the people lose their minds sometimes, and the sand trucks aren't nearly as numerous. Takes a while for all the spots to get sanded well enough to be driven on. It really sux....

Most of my snow covered driveway is a solid sheet of ice, but that is because of all the water that leaked out of the house and through the garage doors.

Yea, I'm watching that too. Let's see, everything froze last night, the roads are covered in ice, and everyone is surprised they can't make it up the hill in their vehicle. I never would have guessed there would be problems.
Oh boy.... with that technique he's gonna be spear his guts one of these days.... LOL.... and yes, i've done it...
