It sounds to me that, at least in your Grandpa's mind, those toys are the sum of his life's accomplishments. Admiring them reminds him of all of the things he has worked for. Even though he is getting older, he does not want any of those things to go away.
You know what Lisa? your exactly right. I just thought about how I would feel getting older, selling off my tools, or whatever. I'm sure each thing has its own memory for him and they are his, so why should he have to get rid of them? Thank you once again for putting something I dont understand into perspective!
Cris has a stepson living with them now...Thats why the job app's the other day.....Jeez man, you gotta pay attention when the girl talks....lmao!!!
Anyways, thats her business to share, not mine.
Sheldon I'm fairly familiar with septics. I've installed a few new systems. Mainly engineered systems where the house and tank were below the leeching field's grade.
I'm not familiar with the "Stack" you're referring to though. Our systems were 100% underground except for the covers over the septic and pump. Of course those lids had to weigh at least 65 pounds or whatever the spec is. The girl that was inspecting one of our systems thought a lid was too light. Maybe I flipped it off too easy for her? So I waited with her while dad ran to Wallyworld to pick up a bathroom scale. The lid was somewhere around 100 pounds. She shut up pretty quick about the weight.
The worst is when the customer has hidden cables in the yard. Like TV cable or electric to a random outlet that they don't tell you about. Then you dig out for the pipes and then they come outside wondering why they lost their TV or whatever. Then we'd have to dig out the rest of the cable and have it replaced.
Installing septics isn't too terrible and it's pretty decent money. Some of the engineered systems we installed were 40 or 50 grand. Sucks to be the h/o in a situation like that, but it worked out great for us. Especially since we're one of the few licensed septic installers in the area.

Sure. Can't blame the ol guy. If I were too old to drive my truck, I'd probably park it in a garage somewhere and I wouldn't let anyone else drive it either! They might expect that since I can't use it anymore, they could "have" it.

Having been a homeowner and a renter, there are pros and cons to both, definitely.

So don't flush body parts down the toilet.
Instead, use a chipper, like in the movie 'Fargo'.
It would take for freakin EVER to flush a body down the toilet, piece by piece.
I have a better idea. I know some places in Colorado where I could bury a body, and no one would EVER find it.

Which just proves your point to me even more. There are certain Aunts and Uncles in the family, lets call them "vultures" that have that attitude. They do believe that since it is parked why cant I have it? Heck, my cousin must have asked for the 300Z at least 2-3 times last year. Just because he doesnt use it does not mean everyone is entitled to it.
I cant believe I didnt think this through more....
oh and on the body dump thing....ummm....well if I get on your bad side maybe you could give me a little heads up before you get rid of me? I mean, you are in my friends list...it just seems fair to have the courtesy.

I know exactly what you're talking about and I've seen it many times.
Being that you are an unbiased family member, and not after any of grandpa's stuff, maybe got sit down with him one day and make sure he has his will written out. Should anything happen to him, its probably very important to him that all of his expensive things go right where he wants them to. To particular people, to charity to help wounded vets, whatever. If not, the vultures will circle. Heaven forbid, were something to happen to grandpa, they would hang around and start scratching eachother's eyes out in hopes they might get their hands on something.
Another good thing is, if a family member KNOWS they will not be able to pry a particular object away from grandpa, they might leave him the hell alone about it.
When we knew my dad was too sick and wasn't going to make it, dad sat down and wrote a detailed statement about who he wanted to have what. It was painful, but in the end it kept people from wondering who would get what.

Haha..ok, deal. How about I give you a three hour head start?
