For any of you that have done this, or understand these valve bodies, I need some help. Trying to do this to my wife's 01 that has a rebuilt tranny. Accumulator VB went fine, the main valve body, I have the 2nd type which needs to be drilled. Did that and got to this step.
Problem is, I don't have that spacer in my kit. The factory spring that came out of the hole (top) is longer than the yellow spring & end plug (bottom) so I can't see how the spacer would have been in the tranny to begin with.
TransGo tech line is not being answered today, and I can't find a number for Oregon Performance where I bought the kit
Am I missing something here? Do I install the factory spring back in for now, or just wait until I can get a hold of TransGo next week?
Damn, I was afraid of that. You might have to wait for Joe/Izzy to read this. Mine had some mods in that area recommended for hot rods and off road, NOT RECOMMENDED for heavy towing or tow/haul applications. Since you have a Tugger and I have the HD2, and you have the 2nd type VB (I had VB type 1), we are awaiting Joe or TG tech.
FWIW, I left the main VB in. I was not about to pull it down and lose those check *****. Some of these mods are meant for when the tranny is out of the truck and upside down on a bench. I did nothing in my main VB.
Sorry, I was thinking of something else when I read the post, then pulled out my instructions. Good luck.
We already talked on the phone, Mike. I couldn't recall if it was part of the kit or not, but I think it's got to be. Might have to wait until Monday, I'm afraid.
I called Joe after looking at all the little bags 100 times to determine I didn't have that piece. I did the accumulator VB first, then re-installed it, leaving the solenoid pack in place when I pulled the main VB so I didn't have to mess with the check ***** above the separator plate. I looked at the check ***** above the small part of the main VB, but no modifications were required for what I had, so I just put that part back together. If I just had that stupid spacer, everything would be back together. Now it looks like my wife won't be driving anywhere for a while.
By the way, thanks for the tip on picking up more brake cleaner. My 4 cans wouldn't have got the job done.

I talked to Tracy also. The spacer is supposed to come in the kit. I just didn't get one.

Yep. Pulled it down, drilled the hole, did all the other mods to it, then installed the spring & plug without the spacer. Put the main VB in a gallon ziplock bag and brought it inside. Put the pan back on and now get to wait until TransGo opens up on Monday (hopefully they're not closed for the week).
Side note: I got the kit from Oregon Performance Transmission. When I noticed my problem, I discovered they do not list their phone number on their website. So much for customer service. I filled out their little online form, but did not hear back today. Wish I would have noticed the missing phone number before I placed my order.
Bummer. I ordered mine from a place in Cali. It was cheaper than OP and I ordered it via phone off of an ebay listing. I liked being able to talk to someone on the phone although he sounded like a knuckle dragger. At least I could call back and yell at him.
Do you have all the check ***** still? I simply had no reason to fool with it based on my instructions and seem to recall they didn't recommend some of the mods unless the tranny was out of the truck, or you had the appropriate main VB
The check ***** above the separator plate are the ones not to mess with unless you pull the tranny. The main valve body has a lower piece that has a few ***** in it. Depending on the number of holes in one spot, a steel check ball may need to be installed here. I only had one hole, so didn't need the steel ball that came in my kit.
That part is only for a type 2 VB anyway, so you wouldn't have had to look at this on yours.
