The extreme tune was more money than I was looking at spending. If I got that I'd be forced to install big oil and a bigger turbo since a rougher idle is out of the question for her.

Thanks Chris. Did you pull the solenoid pack? Also what size holes did you drill?

Yes I pulled the solenoid pack. Turns out I didn't need to. The absolute hardest part of the whole job for me was unplugging the connector on the solenoid pack with the 4" pipe in the way. The 2nd hardest part was plugging it back in until I heard the plastic tab snap back together. I don't remember what size bit I used, but I went with one that was within the range listed on their paperwork. I figure I could always drill it out more later if needed. Just pulling the accumulator VB isn't that big a deal. I'll pm you my cell number in case you get stuck along the way.

I appreciate it! Since the solenoid pack connector seems to be the hardest part for everyone. Do you think that I should drop my exhaust, for easier access to the plug?
Thanks Again

A cave man could do it. Glad it's back together and running. Good job Chris.

Bet you'll change your mind about that auto once you get that chip on it.

How many miles are on it since install? There is a learning curve or strategy adapting that takes place when the tranny changes. It just gets better as you go till it is where it wants to be.

About 12. We went to town and filled it up with diesel. I didn't think the PCM had a learning curve with the 4R100? Doesn't make much difference since it's gonna have a whole new education after the chip is installed anyway. She's ridden in Joe's truck, so she knows what to expect. I expect to be paying for a new set of back tires soon.

If your exhaust comes out easy, I would go ahead since it will make life a LOT easier. Once you see what is involved, how it is made, how it seals through the top with an oring, you will be well served as this will allow you to clean up the area and be sure not to get any dirt into your now clean tranny.

Huck I used a long thin screw drive to get mine off. I think the biggest pain is finding out I did not need to take it down but you will not know that till it comes down. The kit comes with the two drill bits needed to drill the valve body and accumulator body. As far as the calibration plate I drilled mine close to the max size for 2nd and 3rd and maxed out 4th from what they recommend.

It may not be called that, but there is some provision for it to see what the line pressures etc are and make the appropriate shift strategy. I have read about it in my manual for when you disconnect the batteries. Jody mentioned it during my live tuning. Seems to make sense to me too. It looks at every shift, line pressures etc. The PCM looks at slipping, solenoids, etc. There has to be an IF-THEN algorythmn there. Does that make any sense?

It is really shifting like I wanted firm and fast except 4th it shifts fast but not as firm as I would have liked it to. That said it shifts into 4th just like I want it to when I am on the go pedal hard (well as hard as I can with out my chip).I think it is going to do great once I get my chip back from Tony.

Mike is right Chris I did not think it had done anything for my truck but the more I drove it and made it draw out the shifts the better it got.

Yeah, the 3-4 shift is sucky. Wish it was as crisp as the first two!
