Email them back and tell them the part was missing from the kit THEY sold you. THEY need to make it right. I think they're telling you that it's a tranny part sold only by the Ford dealer, but it's a kit part, not an original tranny part. Fire that back at them and see what they say then.
Did that right after I read the email. Still waiting on a response. Besides, even if they were confused about which piece I was talking about and assumed it was part of the OE, am I really supposed to believe a transmission shop that says transmission parts are a dealer only item? I guess all the tranny shops buy their parts from the local Ford dealer when they rebuild a tranny.
I'm mostly disappointed in myself for 1) Buying from a place that does not offer a contact phone number or physical address (even on the receipt) and 2) Buying the kit from someone who is not on the list of distributors on TransGo's website & 3)not checking to make sure all the parts were there before I tore everything apart.
I'm not upset with you Joe. You had no way of knowing. What are the odds of this happening anyway?
Chris, I know you are PO'd. They are an Ebayer so hopefully they will make it right. The tough thing about contacting Trans Go is they don't deal with Joe DIYer for the most part. Have you thought about calling Brian or John Wood to see if they could help you out?
Worst case if resolution isn't quick, and I don't see it being quick, put the stock parts back in that body and drive it, unless you've drilled that hole which I am not sure what that does. I did no mods to my main VB and I am pretty happy with my kit. I would probably call John or Brian.
I was thinking do everything, but put the stock spring back in if you're in a pinch. I would think that OPT would make this right. If they blow you off again, link them to this thread and let them know that A LOT of folks are reading about this situation. If they make it right QUICKLY, I wouldn't feel bad about recommending them again. If they screw you over, everyone on this site will know not to buy from them.
I already drilled the hole. It appears the stock spring would be about the same length as the transgo spring and spacer, but since I don't know what makes this all work, the truck will sit until I get the right part.
I will not be surprised if TransGo is hesitant about helping out someone who purchases their product from someone other than one of their authorized distributors, but I'm guessing worst case, they can point me toward one of their distributors that can help me out.
Calling Brian is an option I didn't think about. I've also discovered there are also some TransGo distributors near me, so I'll call them Monday and see if I get lucky, although I can't see anyone having just this piece in stock and for sale. Maybe it's some universal size spacer they will have in stock.
I just went out to the shed to see if for some reason I might have a spacer like that in the pile of unused stuff but no love. I did notice that my box still had the plastic it was sealed in when it was shipped to me from CT powertrain so my box was sealed.
CT does have a phone # listed. It is for tech support or credit card payment. I called them before my purchase to be sure someone was there and to be sure it would ship here in time. Does not help Chris but may be useful for someone else. This would be a good time for a Tech support call. Hopefully OP will do the right thing.
Edit: Just noticed I never included the 2nd pic I meant to in the opening.
Top spring is factory, bottom is the transgo
I looked through the parts that I have as well, no luck, there was no spacer. FWIW, the only difference between the stock spring and the transgo is the the transgo spring has a stiffer spring rate. Which is why it is so much shorter and requires a spacer. If it were me, I'd put the stock spring back in and not worry about it. IIRC, all the mods done in the main valve body are for manual 2 or 1 operation.

Thanks Mike. Since I drilled a hole on this, I'm assuming the stiffer spring rate will be preferred. It appears that using the stock spring with the new end plug would provide a stiffer spring rate, but I'd like to be 100% sure before I go screwing around with a $4500 tranny.
Still arguing with OPT. His latest comment was that was an OEM piece that I had to take out and drill a hole in
I emailed him pictures of the pieces & instruction sheet with the missing part circled. I also pointed out I had already verified with others that the spacer in question was indeed part of the TransGo kit.
On a more positive note, I spoke with TransGo on the phone. They knew which piece I was referring to without digging up the diagrams, and the first comment from the tech help was, "I know this means you've got a vehicle down. I can either give you the size & dimensions of the spacer so you can make your own, or I'll ship one out to you for free."
I'll have my new spacer tomorrow courtesy of TransGo
Still pissed off at Oregon Performance Transmission
That is great to hear Chris. At least Transgo stands behind there products and have great customer service. Just wish I could have been more help. It sucks having to have a vehicle down because someone else made a mistake but at least they are taking care of it and quickly at that very good service. As for OPT I think I would stay away from them and if anyone has the Tugger coming I would just check and make sure it is all there before installing I for one would be in the same shape as Chris I did not look at everything before starting I just went at it lucky for me it happened to be all there.
