Sheldon.....I thought about you on my drive home today. I glanced down at my gauges, and noticed there is nothing on them for Celcius. Don't you Canadians use Celcius ONLY and not Farenheight? Do you just have to live with F gauges, or can you order them in Celcius? No clue what made me think of that.......EH

Actually most of the world uses Celsius.

Daniel Fahrenheit, Anders Celsius Left Their Marks, Alaska Science Forum

Celsius and Fahrenheit were two dudes who lived a long time ago, each came up with a different way of measuring temperature.

My point being...who cares?

Evening all. I'm completely sick of the winter weather now. Arrived last night in the far NW corner of Iowa...nearly Minnesota...it was 10 below zero according to the thermometer in the Avalanche. Snow had moved through, and roads were relatively clear though.

Warmed up to a balmy 6 degrees when we left the hotel to do the audit. Thank goodness we were able to get finished up there quickly and hit the road early for Des Moines. What should have been a 4 hour trip took over 7 hours because of the weather. It was snowing and icing the whole trip. It never warmed up over 8 degrees.

Defroster would not keep the windshield clear either, because it was so cold. Everyone was having that problem...about every mile or two there would be a car pulled off the road scraping their windshield. I ended up having to stop and buy washer fluid. Used over 4 gallons of the stuff just today.

Conditions were deceptively slick too. I saw several accidents, cars in the ditch, and even one semi truck on its side in the median. I'm very thankful we were not involved in any of the accidents today. However, driving for that long in that kind of weather has me absolutely beat. My mind is shot from being at attention all day and tensions in the truck were starting to run high from being cooped up together all day in the treacherous conditions. I'm glad the day is over.

There's a chance we'll be able to head home tomorrow evening instead of Thursday evening, as the original plans called for. That would be excellent since the forecast for tomorrow night is clear and free of precipitation, but another snow storm is in the forecast for Thursday night. We won't know until in the morning when we get to the company though, whether or not what our schedule will be.

Sorry for the length, y'all. Just had to vent a little. I'm sure most of you see my long *** posts and just skip right over them anyway.

Glad to hear you didnt wreck and made it ok.

I saw one of those hybosa (I think they are turboed) bikes today, and those things just look plain stupid fast.

My Cummins is at home, parked inside some commercial building Jeff is working on, safe from the weather and securely locked up. I'm in my parents Chevy Avalanche...nice truck too.

Let me know if you find a place that will accept those .3g2 vids. I've got a few from my phone, and the video uploads okay, but the sound is all goofed up.

Me too. I'm working on something else that will get me to the south east, but it wouldn't happen for several years.

Darling, I would love to make sure I'm out of here tomorrow. Unfortunately, it's not at all my decision. I can give my input, but the final decision ultimately belongs to my step-dad. I'm only the VP of our company...he's the President.

Yes well, they are parents. They do that. My dad used to hold his breath whenever I was driving and we pulled up to a stopsign/stoplight.

Tell your President that we're slated to get a foot of snow, a lot more in cities West of here, according to the news. They predict 15-17" for Waterloo. $5 says he'll agree to scoot.

Thanks Lisa. I'll let him know. Hopefully it will help.

Sheldon, the 12 inches doesn't bother me that much...it's driving with my "assistance" that would make it bad. The trip back home is supposed to take 4.5 hours in normal conditions...who knows what in a snow storm.

Last year, we got 15 inches overnight in Columbia. The truck wasn't even fazed by it. It was kind of funny to see the town though, with only a few big trucks driving around.

Yep, PhotoBucket worked. Here are a couple vids I shot with my Omnia. You can see the SW we use to trace the phones on the PC. There are two instances of it up (one per phone) for this trip -- when I run Verizon tests, there are four plus a spreadsheet. It's a bit of a handful keeping up with all that in bad coverage when they're dropping calls, ringing, etc, while trying to keep the data correct in the sheet.

Here's the link to the vids:

Its not the snow thats a real problem...its the retards in sedans out trying to drive around in it, getting stuck and slamming into each other and shutting down the highways.
