Evening all. I'm completely sick of the winter weather now. Arrived last night in the far NW corner of Iowa...nearly Minnesota...it was 10 below zero according to the thermometer in the Avalanche. Snow had moved through, and roads were relatively clear though.
Warmed up to a balmy 6 degrees when we left the hotel to do the audit. Thank goodness we were able to get finished up there quickly and hit the road early for Des Moines. What should have been a 4 hour trip took over 7 hours because of the weather. It was snowing and icing the whole trip. It never warmed up over 8 degrees.
Defroster would not keep the windshield clear either, because it was so cold. Everyone was having that problem...about every mile or two there would be a car pulled off the road scraping their windshield. I ended up having to stop and buy washer fluid. Used over 4 gallons of the stuff just today.
Conditions were deceptively slick too. I saw several accidents, cars in the ditch, and even one semi truck on its side in the median. I'm very thankful we were not involved in any of the accidents today. However, driving for that long in that kind of weather has me absolutely beat. My mind is shot from being at attention all day and tensions in the truck were starting to run high from being cooped up together all day in the treacherous conditions. I'm glad the day is over.
There's a chance we'll be able to head home tomorrow evening instead of Thursday evening, as the original plans called for. That would be excellent since the forecast for tomorrow night is clear and free of precipitation, but another snow storm is in the forecast for Thursday night. We won't know until in the morning when we get to the company though, whether or not what our schedule will be.
Sorry for the length, y'all. Just had to vent a little. I'm sure most of you see my long *** posts and just skip right over them anyway.
I am glad we don't get much of that down this way glad to see you made it through it all. Was you driving the truck if so how did the Cummins do on start up?
Hey everybody.....came home to a bunch of SNOW! Woooha! Loving it! There is about 10 inches right now, and still snowing, supposed to keep snowing until Thursday, so we'll see what we get
JD.....I have two different Canon digital cameras. They are AWESOME. I have a Powershot, and a Powershot "elph" for the wife. They take incredible pics, and the Powershot takes AA batteries, which I like, I use rechargable ones, but can use regular also of course. My wifes has a built in rechargable, it lasts awhile....but you are screwed when it dies. On my honeymoon, I took about 300 pictures, changed the batteries ONCE

Glad you made it safe Jeremy. I am just a few hours East of you, and snow has stopped. About 6" total I'd say. It'll be cold tomorrow but you should have no problems.
Its pretty nasty out there for sure. Believe it or not it has actually warmed up a bit.
Great to hear the PSDs are in great numbers out there and that is hilarious about the dodge dealer LMAO they need to post that everywhere :-p. What exactly are you doing out that way anyways.
///SNIP///
Get a ranger Jacob you'll love it, its great on gas and atleast you don't have a bowtie on there . You can get them for fairly cheap and they last for ever a 167 on mine.
I'm testing phones. I *WAS* going to post a vid to kind of show what I do, but Webshots doesn't like the .3GP format my phone takes the vids in. I know there was some kind of software out there to reformat these vids -- anyone care to refresh my memory please??
One of my favs is this one -- check out the steam rolling off the lake:
Rangers.... I really liked my Ranger, Jacob, so I second that. I just got tired of the size. I'm kind of a big guy, and me + Ranger doesn't work out mathematically. It really was surprisingly comfortable though. I drove it from Dallas to Vegas & back (~20 hours each way) and I was fine with it. It was the Extended cab, so I had a little extra room to push the seat back.
BTW, on the way to In-n-Out, I saw **FIVE** more 7.3s. Three 99-03s, and two OBSs. And one more D-max. WTF?? They're friggin' everywhere around here!!! I'm having truck withdrawals again.
EDIT: Well crud. Mine are .3g2 vids. Trying them anyway, and it looks like it's taking them. Cross your fingers.
