@dirtmotor , which steering gear did you use as the replacement?
Fixed it finally , thanks to this thread ,after replacing everything but the steering box I had front end aligned , was worse than ever to keep on the road so I talked to some big truck front end guys and they said its gotta be the toe and boy were they right ! With a tape measure I checked wheel to wheel and they had toe set at 3/8 out , I set it to a little less than a 1/8 in and I cant believe how good it drives , so now I have a Red Head steering box in the shop waiting for me to install it should take care of the play (I hope ) then maybe a long long break from truck maintenance! So you did the alignment yourself? Ive tried that before...not on the 7.3. Setting up the reference points is annoying.
