nope, I want back and checked. The high end chromo 60 axles like superior are significantly stronger than a rockwell stock axle. but yea, things like tubes and espeically knuckles are way weaker on the 60s then the rockwells, and of course rockwells are cheaper stock than built 60s.
Just out of curiousity though, has anybody with a built 60 and a heavy foot like pro, ivan, or fishy actually broke their knuckle? It seems like the axle shaft itself it was lets go(or the joint) and in that regard the moly 60 is stronger than stock rockwell.
please post a link to your "source".......how did they test it?
ive seen just about everything on a d60 break at TGW events.......including chromod 60's,
the rock shafts are def. brittle, but they are also cheap, you can get stock shafts for less then $200 or spend 1k and get shafts that are WAY stronger then a chromod d60.......and a rock shaft you dont have to worry about upgrading the ujoint......they are monsterous compared to a d60 joint which you would have to upgrade too........again=$$$$$
IMO if he plans to have that much HP and run 44's and up and drive it right, the rockwells are by far the smarter choice......

Do a search on Pirate. Theres a bunch of threads on this very topic. The better chromos(like superior) 60's are stronger than a stock rock shaft. Its a dead debate there is no question about it. Not bashing on anyone with rocwells, but truth is the truth. Besides other things come into play like tubes, joints and knuckles which is were rockwells are far superior.
But when it comes to sheer axleshaft strengeth, a quality chromo 35spline d60 is stronger than a stock rockwell. End of story. Like i said do a search on pirate if you dont believe me.
rockwells are problly a better choice for him like you said. I just wanted to point out that the most common breakage is the shaft and in that regard a good chromo60 is stronger than the rock.
