COMP CAMS PULLER CAM

Well as the title says I want to put the Comp Cams puller cam 34-711-9 in my truck

I have a set of DOVE-C heads with 2.25 and 1.75 full ported flowing around 350 intake and 220 exhaust at 700' at 28"

full roller rockers

ported victor to match

Will this cam be the best for stock class mud racing? THere are no lift rules just cubic inch rules. This is a 460 30' over with about 10.5 to 1

I have the springs to match this cam

I'm running 39.5" boggers on 5.43 gears and a np208 through a c6 with 3000 stall converter.

Side Note: The truck is still driven on the street a lil

I wouldn't call it a street friendly cam by any means. and I don't know how you could ever call it a stock class truck as that cam is going to be fairly radical.
Will it run good? yeah above 3500-4000rpm and probably pull ok up through mid 6k range. I would shift about 6400. BUT you need more stall convertor with that cam, atleast 3800 and would prefer 4000rpm stall.

Also it's got a pretty tight LSA IMO so your compression ratio is on the bottom end of acceptable, preferable with that cam would be 12:1 IMMHO.

i think my compression should actually be a lil bit higher maybe around 11.5 due to the fact that the heads had been milled quite a bit. We also had to mill the intake to adjust and the pushrods are now 8.4 instead of the 8.56 that it should use

the converter on foot gives around 2700 and flash to about 3200 so I thinks its closer to 3500

Yeah I know street is pushing it but its getting very competitive in my class

most people have like 14:1 and trailer their junk I drive mine to the races 40 miles and back home

Well couple things to keep in mind. Solid rollers don't like idle time (don't get enough oil on the roller) that is why they don't live long on the street.
Next remember that when you get into big lift solid roller cams, the valve springs are considered a consumable item, so you need to check them every year and possibly replace as needed (they will last longer if yhou back the rockers off anytime it's going to sit for any length of time)
And lastly, if your rpms going down the street are lower then the stall rpms of the converter your going to build a LOT of heat in the trans. Just something to think about before deciding to drive it 40 miles to races.

yeah i have thought about this long ago when I put the converter in the truck, I also at that time put a bigger pan and tranny cooler off a 01 super duty its huge

the cam I have is also a solid roller just with only 630' lift but yeah I know the routine on big lift cams and the springs

I also have a 632 with 806 lift LSM cam that is my class 3 truck. Has IDT heads that flow a lil over 470 at 800 lift on the dyno it pulls 1341 horses and 3 dead donkeys at 7100 rpm

During the off season the heads get checked and the springs get unloaded just onbolting the shaft rockers

thanks for the input

I had never run a mud race puller cam and wanted to see if anyone had to see if there is a difference

Ok never know if someone has any experience with solid rollers or not. Lot of people don't realize they are NOT a drop in and forget setup.

yeah a solid roller is actually a real pain...

have to check rockers almost every oil change you always have a constant ticking

but you can get very aggressive with cam profiles
