Jordan and I plan on sanding, priming and painting the firewall, front and rear window opening's. I'd like to get the glass and engine in before it go's into hibernation.
Morning everyone, hell of a nice start to the day here all ready!
Gerry was it you that said you work on transmissions for extra dough?
I have a e4od in a 91 f150 4x4 that has a bit of a leak out of the front of the tranny, which Ive read is probably the front seal or torque convertor(?) seal.
Just wondering if you have replaced them before, and if you have, how hard was it to do? Im assuming Ill have to pull the tranny right out?
Yes the trans will have to come out to get at the seal.....check the leak real good to make sure its coming from there.
check the drain plug in the torque to make sure its tight, that could be the leak.....
spin the torq by hand with a bar till the plug appears in the inspection hole (where the rubber plug is) in the bell housing,
Note: they all dont all have the drain plug,
if you pull it out , check the neck on the torque for wear or cracks....
be very careful installing the new seal,
it has to go in perfectly straight.....
I have a seal driver I use so I'm not pounding directly on the seal,
put a little grease on the new seal so it doesn't start up dry,
slide the torque back in till you hear & feel it bottom out to make sure its all the way in the pump....

I have the same problem, when winter comes both my projects and I go into hibernation......
Is it still a 3 step deal to get the torq all the way in Gerry?
By golly yes, I have a heated garage. Mama need's her leather seat's warm in the mornin'. The rest of the place is full of hockey gear, snow blower and misc winter, home rink stuff. Don't say she need's heated seat's and can park out side in the winter, it just won't cut it in this household. I just don't have time in the winter to work on the truck, instead I buy a few part's here and there, and when summer comes, I have have plenty to do. Then I also have a crap load of repair's to do on my motorhome, but I can turn the furnace on and get a head start on that.
Guess I`m part bear then, I like to take it real easy in the winters now.
Which remind's me of a story:
A bear is sitting comfortably on a log taking a dump and a rabbit come's up and say's: Mind if I join you? the bear say's: Not at all, grab yourself a seat. A minute later the bear look's at the rabbit and say's: Does poo stick to your fur? The rabbit say's: heck no! The bear say's: Good, then grab's the rabbit and wipe's his butt with him. I couldn't resist. Well guy's it's off to the fart sack for tonight. Have a good night, and talk to y'all tomorrow.
