paul,
i'm cool. if there is something that i know about or have ran into before, i just like to try and point you in the right direction on where to look or where to test. thats just the mechanical side of me. sorry! your brakes are hydrualic, but the booster side of it is or should be vaccuum. specailly on the diesels! they have a vaccuum pump that is belt drivin'. the diesels don't build vaccuum like the gas rigs do! which draws off of manifold vaccuum. thats why the diesels have a vaccuum pump! if that pump starts goin' south it will effect alot more then the 4x4 operation, brakes, heat and a/c,etc. i know you weren't ribbin' me. i was trying to give you some ideas on what to look for! i hope it these insights and ideas help!

jack, I have heard of the vac pump but never really looked for it. Wehre is that thing hid on the '01 250? I will start from there and vac the lines and see if everything works. If so, then is there a test for the pump?
yeah,
it is nice to have, just about 1 out of 3 homes have a wood or pellet stove.
on the other hand there are some people that have chimney fire. thats only if you haven't cleaned it regularly. in a shop is totally different. a shop is more open.
but they are nice. they also help keep the electric bill down as well. its also nice to have a neighbor that works for a tree service. free wood! sometimes.
paul,
that vaccuum pump has a big diaphram on top of it with a single rubber hose clamped to it. usually located on the left side of the engine just above the power steering pump. to test it is simple. just hook a vaccuum gauge directly to the pump and fire the engine up and see how much vaccuum your pulling. if its less then 15hg or inches of vaccuum then the pump diaphram is failing. usually if that pump goes it will only pull 6-8 inches of vaccuum. that isn't enough. to run the brakes, heat duct doors, defroster, 4x4 operation, etc. some models have a vaccuum amplifier or a reserve for back up vaccuum.
Thanks Jack. I have got to find this problem, then I will tackle the low power one. The 4X4 is need more than the power, but If I wanna, she will still lay down a pretty set of stripes with those Goodyears.
Jack, as a fireman, woodsmoke is filled with toxins that if concentrated enough will cause respitory (sic) arrest. The worst accidents are caused in the winter with woodstoves and snow partially blocking the flue, the visible smoke appears to be going up, but slowly filling the room and house. Sleeping people are not even aware of what is happening, it is just Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
paul,
let me know! and i know it will! just hard to stop. and your welcome! i'm just an out of work mechanic! but this is my trade! i just want to be of some help! thats all! it keeps my mind active! it keeps me from being depressed!

I know that Jack, I wish you luck in finding another job. I am going to check that out Saturday. I have to go get a vac gauge and pump so I can do a good test. That water vac with pump I have does not do the trick.
i just cleaned mine so there is no chance of that happening here!
i haven't used my stove all summer. but its warm now!! thats the last thing i want is to have a fire! i'd stand back and watch it burn! lol! not that i want that to happen! which i don't!
