what did you get for a new quad Warren?? schraders had an '09 kingquad 750 for 8800 the other day... very tempting, but momma says i don't need another one, and she doesn't want my 450...
Toys for the Boys. Well I got an old faithful ,an 85 Yamaha 225 moto 4 2wheel drive with 13 inch wide rear tires and I'll go where the boys that have the big 750 and 800 are going and I'll go as far and even farther because it is alot lighter. I may not be able to go as fast but its fast enough for me. And will hurt as much when you dump it.
Sherm, we bought a Polaris 500 last fall so its not new any more but its the first spring season its seeing. The price was around $7000 if I can recall and it appeared to be good value - it has fuel injection, independant suspension, 26" tires and aluminum rims. Its the Stealth Black version. I really, really wanted a 700 Grizzly w/power steering but the price was too crazy(around $11000 if I can recall??). We make abput 1500 or more km/year so it gets well used.
I never was a big fan of Polaris quads but I will share a story. In 2001 we bought a Honda Rubicon (the flagship of the fleet before the Rincon came out a year or two later) and a friend bought a 500 Polaris. The Honda was quite a bit more money. At 11000 kms the transmission went in the Honda and the cost to repair it is within $500 of the value of the quad - this is the first time I was ever let down by anything Honda built!!! The only thing we replaced was the starter and tires (still had the original battery). The Polaris of my friend's did take some maintenance in the CV and CV boots (typical of any independant suspension) but at 8000 miles it was traded in for a couple grand -- end of my little story!!!
I wouldn`t mind an old faithful but they`re hard to find in decent shape that don`t need a bunch of work.
I see them around lots, let me know what kind you would want to get and Ill find ya one.
My grandpa sold his yamaha quad a year ago for 1000 bucks, and it was in great shape.
i've always liked polaris for the ride and the power, but they always seemed to be a heavy and high maintenance machine. hopefully thats changed for ya. i've never been a suzuki sort of guy, but after having this kingquad, i'd definately buy another one. honda would be on the bottom of my list nowadays, as they're pricey to buy, pricey to fix, and they're at the end of the pack for new inovations...
as the can-am renegades get more time on the playing field, i definately think they'd be the way to go. the 800 for 11900 is pricey, but you're getting a lot of bike there.

Awhile back I believe you mentioned that guys that you rode with, or guys on the trails always had problems with the can ams, have you been hearing/seeing a different trend recently?
I think when the time comes I would like a can am, but to be honest they make all the quads pretty good now a days, it would be tough choosing one.
Those early to mid 90's polaris quads still have me kinda scared of polaris, and im not sure about the artic cat ones yet either.
I know I wouldnt buy those cheap "knock off" type quads like the pantera, or the kinda you can get from canadian tire. I prefer a little more longevity then what they can offer, and am willing to pay more for it!
