I guess I better drop in more often. Too much reading to catch up on!! Seems like everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer so far.
I got an early birthday present last week. Apparently I wanted a boat this year but if I waited until my birthday, summer would be nearly over. So we picked it up last week and took it out on its maiden voyage on Fathers day. The lake was kind of rough so we headed to a bay somewhat sheltered and toured around there for a couple of hours. Hopefully this weekend will be better. I think it will be fun, as long as I can convince my husband to drive slower until we know where the sandbars are. Didn't get stuck but less than a ft of water isn't very comforting.... The water went from 100+ ft to less than a foot in what seemed like a matter of feet.
Last night was kind of interesting around midnight. There was a nasty storm blow through. Out camping and I heard the familiar sound of a tree crashing down. I felt the ground shake a bit and then crash. But our trailer didn't move, nor the truck. About 10 feet from the truck a spruce tree about 70 ft tall pulled out of the ground and fell the opposite way of our campsite. Unfortunately, the guy beside us wasn't so lucky. His trailer took the top 30 ft of the tree. But it was a solid old trailer and he drove out of there with it after the park rangers cut the tree away. It was about a foot shorter in the one corner but he could still drive it away. If the tree had fallen towards us, it would have probably taken out the back of the truck, hubbys motorcycle and the trailer, right about where the bed is. And it was huge, about 1 1/2 ft diameter. That would not have been good. The big guy upstairs was watching out for us last night!
