There pretty picky I gotta say.
Even if your bumper height (front lowest part of the metal) is lower than 29" they will do the "track width" calculation on ya. Quick run down, your width of your tires center to center diveded by the height of your frame (highest point usually by rear wheel **including any body modification**)
72/40= 1.8 score. Anything lower than that and its a fail.
**Don't quote me on the actual score, it may have changed since my last VUI visit**
Last visit my bumper was 28.75 and score was 1.805
They instantly check for Cat and muffler.
Width of vehicle if your spacing: has to have flairs covering wheels and if you end up over 81" in width **not incl mirrors** marker lights (5) on roof required and (3) on rear.
I will note, LED's they check for. If it's not factory lenses or lights with the "DOT" marking on them its a fail. They even checked my headlight bulbs for the DOT mark.
Interestingly enough, mud flaps AKA "splashguard" been ticketed for several times but fought and won.
VIU passed my truck without splashguards. (not in their regulations/requirements) 3 times i've been through that place.
HTA (city police) require them and police it. I totally respect that.
But until their 2 different books of "regulations" start reading the same and both are on the same page i'll always fight that ticket.
I will say, 90% of the time they will leave you alone. I requested to be in the VUI station after I bought my truck and got the 1st letter to bring it in to learn what the reg's were so I can do the right thing. . So either way, red flags are raised when someone calls it in or they (VUI inspection unit) actually pulls you over and does a roadside on ya. Looking back, I had the registered letter for inspection a week and a bit after I bought the truck so there must have been something more to it. I know it was called in by someone and what date but no idea who. (MPI shouldn't go for coffee when the customer is still wondering around the shop...hehehe)

Morning everyone. My home town always has two car shows, one some time between May-June and one in August. The one in August is always the big car show and they always have a mud bog going on too.

Gerry, when is your new 2015 gonna be ready??

If you get a ticket or pulled over for being to high, could you remove the body lift? Those 35s should still easily fit with just a 6" lift.

That is a nice looking Super Duty you got! I just have one question, if its a gas job why 4.10 gears for 37s? Why not the 4.30s?

Morning Gerry!!
Curtis, thank you. Not using any spacers. Wheels turn freely from lock position to lock position. DOT is stamped on both head and tail lights. Turn has a cat and muffler. We did the measurements and calculation and seems the height is within requirements. Truck already has flares with "Long John" mud flaps and 5 cab lights with clear lens in amber.

Have I missed anything???

Randy, yes the 35s do fit without the body lift. Added the 3inch body lift with the thinking of adding 39s after getting the 250. Looks like to keep 150 legal the highest I can add is 37s.

Got 4.10 over 4.30 on my 6.2L simply because of wait time. Living where I do, the swap of a 4.30 which had to be ordered would have taken two weeks longer.

Makes sence to go with what's available. If you could go back and wait would you or are you happy with the 4.10s? I'm trying to decide if I wanna go up in tire size to 37s or stick with my 35s. With my truck being a tuned diesel it would have more than enough power for the 37s with the 3.55 gears I got now but I would re-gear just because I already noticed a power loss with the 35s over stock.

I am happy with the 4.10 gears. Have towed my dump trailer with a skid steer without an issue. Pushed all this snow with a Boss Standard Duty without an issue. Gears can always be replaced later if required.

35s are cheaper than 37s as more companies produce the smaller size. Also you might get tire rub on mud flaps as I did and was forced to remove flaps. If you already do not have flares then flares will be required. Also from what I have been told, 37s are a "red flag" for a cop to request an inspection on height. Most guys I know run 35s so not to be hassled.

I might actually purchase Pro Comp Xtreme MT2 in 35s and install on 250 and move the 37s from 250 to 150 once 150 passes inspection.

Yeah 35s have way more pro's over 37s other than that fact that 37s look better and are better off road. Another down side is no one makes a good winter tire bigger than a 35.

Your also forgetting the snob factor of a 37 in a good brand. A good 37 well run you more than your Dura Trac tires. I have used these for two winters and a good tire.

I enjoy having a true 10 ply tire and these Pro Comps saved me from being stranded once while off roading.

Yeah the Duratracs are expensive enough for my taste and the side wall is surprising thick in the Duratracs for only being 2 ply. Yes they are soft, very soft, but thick. And I need thick tires because of the road I drive on and have never had a problem with the Duratracs. I'm wanting to switch to the Toyo AT2s because of the price and size they come in. The Duratracs are really wide, but they were fine throughout the winter but I want something tall and skinny like the 285/75R18 Toyo's and then for the summer either running the Duratrac or the Goodyear MT/R Kevlars if I can find a good price.

As I wrote, had the Dura Tracs on one of my plow trucks and these did a great job. Have no issues with these.

Then you had a pretty good season this winter? Winnipeg almost has as much snow as we do up here in northern MB.

Yes I had a good winter. Now we are sitting on our butts waiting for this snow to melt so spring clean ups can begin.
