So, I have compiled a long list of mods I want to do to my truck however having to pay for school is a serious hindrance. I did the muffler delete (stacks are on hold until after graduation) and will soon be doing the foil delete and 6637. I would really like to get gauges and the DP ASAP (but again funds are limited). My question is would a super chips tuner be a waste of time/cash?, I can get one (not sure on the model) for under $150 - or would I be better served saving for the DP?
Having run the SuperChip 1705 programmer and now running DP Tuner, I can tell you without any doubt the the 80E on the DP is stronger than anything the SC will do for you. With that being said, the SC was an huge improvement over stock. It also doubled as a code reader, and for that reason, I still have it. If money is the issue, I would do as Rick suggested and have you PCM flashed with the 80E. I run mine in that setting most all the time. Your best bet IMO would be save up until you can do it right. It may take a little longer to get what you want, but it will be worth it and you want have extra parts laying around.
Well.....at least you'd get a code reader for cheap! I just dumped my Superchip into the toolbox about 6 weeks ago, really REALLY enjoying the DP now. But I saved the SC for pulling those codes!
