Block heater question

Can anyone tell me where to find the plug end of this? I can't seem to be able to trace it - it goes above the frame rail and then disappears. Pictures would be helpful...

I dont have pictures but as a retired line tech I know of times where the cord was simply tied in a bunch possibly under the fuse relay box to be undone and rolled out to the front durring p.d.i. but was not done. The only thing that comes to mind quick is to have another person get on the drivers side standing on a step so as to get better view around and under fuse relay box from above then get back under and start tugging gently on the power cord. May even have to trade spots so you can look over the fender to see what moves, hope it was help.

It is hard to tell from the photo, but it does not appear to be the block heater to me..

If it is the heater then the other end should be behind the bumper near the tow hook.

Thats the block heater cord. Its orange and comes out of the oil filter bracket. Find a small mirror and take a look around the drivers side tow hook. The cord comes over the frame rail and is probably tied up somewhere above the tow hook towards the passenger side.

My 2002 excursion 7.3L was a southern truck as well. The cord was factory tied to the frame rail on the driver side beside the tow hook. I had to work a pair of needlenose pliers in between the bunper and fog light to pull the end out. Dad's 2004 F350 6.0L was tied in a similar manner. Before you buy a cord get a good flashlight and investigate at the front of the drivers frame rail.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm gonna try and track it down this weekend, I'll let you know what I find. As for the pic I was just lying on my back - the perspective does come off rather weird though

Its curled up behind the bumper somewhere, maybe even zip tied. You'll find it.

If you haven't found it, try removing your grille by removing four phillips head screws on top and the four spring clips on the bottom. This will give you much better access both visually and physically. Somethimes the plug end is wire tied to the truck and this makes it easier to remove the wire tie.
Good luck,
