Exhaust question

For those who upgraded their exhaust did you leave the muffler on or do the muffler delete? Looking at MBRP which says it has a high flow muffler.

I run straight pipe in the summer and in the past, a muffler in the winter. My exhaust happens to aim right at the master bedroom of the house across the street when in my driveway. When the exhaust back pressure valve kicks in it sounds like a 747 since I have a 6" tip focusing the sound.

They got transferred and sold the house, so we'll see if the new owner's mention it this winter.

I personally use the muffler, I've ran the MBRP kit in the past and am currently saving for a MBRP kit for this PSD. I will, again, run the muffler as we deal with and truck livestock the noise db. are always a concern. I like the sound either way, but for our rigs that are ussually in front of a trailer, they'll have the muffler. FWIW.

I run the muffler supplied with the MBRP kit. It's basically a huge 5" hole with baffles along the wall. There's no way it causes any restriction.

I'm running mine with a muffler just so that if I fire it up in the morning to come to work I won't wake up my sleeping girls (3 and 8 months) and to keep the in-cab noise down, especially while towing, for the same reason. I could have saved the $ and not got a muffler but, like Pocket said, I don't see any way that the muffler could hurt performance.

I run the muffler also. I think the sound is good enough. When I ordered mine, I thought if I don't like the sound I could always order the muffler delete pipe. Didn't need too.

Another vote for the MBRP with muffler. Fired up the truck with and without muffler doing the install. A bit less noise in the cab but about the same kick in the throttle.

For the last six months it had a muffler and then I did my WW and I happen to "Misplace" my muffler at the same time. So I had to put in my straight pipe piece and it sounds so sick!!!!
