Muffler or Muffler delete pipe

I just bought the magnaflow 5" dpf back exhaust system, it comes with a muffler and a muffler delete pipe, does it need the muffler, is there any sound difference, which one do yall recommend, muffler or muffler delete pipe???

The muffler does not make any difference. The Cat and DPF is what kills all the noise on these trucks. Just go with what ever is cheaper.

I have the MBRP "cool duals" on mine. No muffler. Still quiet.

Well I decided to go with muffler delete pipe, I took off the factory exhaust system in my garage took 10 minutes, drove to pick up the magnaflow with out the resonator or tailpipe, did not notice any difference in sound, came home installed the bolt on dpf back exhaust, took about 15 minutes, sounds the same, quiet, the new exhaust has the fin cut outs like the factory except for its a 6 inch tip, looks great.

IMO it shouldn't, but that's why I went with bolt on, I can replace the oem in 30 min.

I had my muffler cut out and just straight piped, It seemed to have a little better throttle response and a more throatier rev after. Dealer said as long as I don't mess with the cat my warranty is cool.
