muffler delete or 4 inch

What is the difference in flow and exhaust temps between a stock exhaust with a muffler delete and a 4 inch exhaust with a muffler. I have a stock exhaust now with the muffler delete and was wondering how much of an advantage a 4 inch would be. By the way, the muffler delete sound sweet

What other mods do you have? On a stock truck there will barely be any difference.

The major part of the exhaust system is the larger downpipe. That helps lower temps because there is less restriction for the exhaust gasses to exit the turbo. The 4" downpipe is 56% larger cross-sectional area compared to the stock 3" downpipe. To add to it, the bends are mandrel bent, smoother than the kinked stock bends. But Cookie is right, on a stock-tuned truck you won't see much of a difference. Maybe a deeper tone.

Yo' Kris... He has the DP with 120 Race & 80 Econo -- I think the 4" will make a noticeable difference.

BTW, my DP will be here next week. I can hardly contain myself.

Can't wait to some of these d@mn ricers around me -- they're like gnats on a muggy summer night...

deemac-

not to side track, but I am thinking of doing a 4" with glass pack myself. Is yours a muffler delete with glass pack or muffler delete with straight pipe? I want to get a bit of mileage, lower EGT's and a little note. I keep looking at MKO 4" kit. Just don't want it to loud. A little note while cruising, more note while passing all the Dodges and Bowties. Also, somebody mentioned the downpipe was 3". If I'm not mistaken, the proven 7.3 downpipe is 3.5" and the 6.H0 is 3". Sorry, love my 7.3

The MBRP is 4" from turbo to bumper, and the muffler is straight through (like a glass pack). Guzzle has some clips of his here:

These were the clips that convinced me to get it. Like I said, I like the sound...

Oh I know... Believe me -- I was seriously contemplating the 5", but after hearing the 4" and learning that there is little difference performance-wise, and that a Stainless version is next to impossible to find in the 5", I went with the MBRP. No regrets -- I love the looks and the sound! Now I'm chomping at the bit waiting for my DP to get here!!!

Stacks might look funny on your truck. They'd have to stick up four feet above the cab to keep from messing up the front of that pretty fiver.

Yeah, that's why I don't have stacks.
I've often toyed with the thought of having a changable tip on the stacks that I would install just for the trip.
But that idea quickly gets canned as I don't want to be working on my truck while I'm out on vacation. So the side pipe remains.
It sounds just like a stack so I'm happy enough with it.
