dual exhaust and dual inlet/outlet muffler

i was wondering if running pipes into a dual inlet/outlet muffler is the same as running each pipe in and out of 2 individual mufflers. basically, is running both pipes in and out of a single muffler considered dual exhaust?

dual exhaust and dual inlet/outlet muffler

I have dual 3" exhaust with dual in and dual out magnaflow muffler, not sure exactly how it works but if i put my hand at the end of each tip it feels exactly the same, in the winter when you can see the exhaust it looks the same. Doesn't seem that one is putting out more then the other so i would say it is deffinatly dual exhaust.

Both into the same muffler may actually be better than true duals. If they both go into one muffler it would allow the exhaust gasses to cross over similar to a h-pipe or x-pipe. Don't have dyno's to prove it but it makes sense.

My Dad had a 390 in a 66 Galixely and it had dual pipes. It also had a stock cross-over pipe that was after the resonators and befor the mufflers. It was quiet and fast!
