It's for the Auxillary intake heater. It's on the spider on the cold side, you just remove it, and put the delete plug in there. The heating element itself is HUGE.....it blocks airflow on the intake. It's a 5 minute mod....and costs like $5 bucks, I had a post awhile back where I posted the part number at Napa. The heater is a waste unless you live where it is VERY cold winters, and you let your truck idle for long periods. The mod won't do much for performance.....but the more airflow you get the better!
Thanks for the reply. I kept seeing this, AIH, pop up here and there but no info was ever really said about it. Except for alot of people seem to have it. Always wondered if it was something I should do but always forgot to ask.
I just cut the heating element off mine, crushed the ceramic with channel locks, and cut the off the stand-off. I left the tee in my MAP sensor line for the boost gauge for now. That will work but to finish the more "elegant" solution, I'll get the Cummins plug and drill & tap for the boost tube adapter. The code for the AIH is a "soft" code, which means a code is stored, but not CEL is set.
The thing you labeled "Boost Line" is for the boost gauge. The line labeled with a "?" goes to the MAP sensor, unless you have an OverBoost Annihilator like I do, then it goes to the MAP sensor after the OBA. The holes you're pointing to are the mounting holes for the waste gate solenoid. My van turbo has no waste gate, so I removed all that stuff. The stud looking thing you labeled with a "?" is the AIH with all the wires removed.
