Did the AIH delete mod today......total of $8.54 complete. If you were wondering....you can use a Cummins 5.9L drain plug to do this. It's a little cheaper then ordering one! Part #7041378 at Napa. Took me all of 10 minutes to do it. Went for a short test drive, and didn't notice any difference.....but that heater element is HUUUUGE! Nice to have that intake opened up a bit. Some sources say it blocks 20% of the air-flow.....dunno if that is true or not, but I feel better knowing it's done. Now on to the next mod......
I did the AIH delete this weekend and didn't notice a big difference.....maybe throttle response, don't know. I did notice that my engine light went on though.
It would make a big difference if the air was under ambient pressure. Under boost pressure, the thing isn't really a restriction. You shoulda painted a little 5.9 on the head of that drain plug LOL

It's the first step in the De-stroking! I've got one BOLT!
AIH mod = Auxillary Intake Heater mod.......it's a heater that is designed to turn on inside the intake on the cold side at temps of 0 degrees after your glow plugs go off, to help with extended idles. Most NEVER need it in the intake....and it's a huge blockage in there, the heater is pretty big. CCV mod = Crank Case ventilation mod. This is re-routing the crank case vent into the atmosphere instead of your turbo intake. It's the cause of alot of buildup of gunk. The Zoodad mod is drilling a hole in the shroud next to your radiator....allowing air to flow directly into the battery box on the drivers side that has the shroud or "tunnel" aimed at the air filter box. It is a mod that doesn't do much....but it's FREE. Pics of it in my gallery. Check out www.7point3.com and look under the mods for LOTS of other ideas for your truck!
Now you can remove the AIH relay.. did you do that?
I just removed the ground wire, and the hot wire. Left the relay in place because of the blue wire that was supposedly needing to stay hooked up for diagnostic reasons....
