I know what you mean, Mike. The first shop I went to wanted $650, which was really only about $200 more than I expected. The second shop was, well, let me put it this way... The guy started by sort of talking to himself like this..." completely new sprayed in bed liner, hmm....", and that's when I stopped him and said WHOA! His response was that he had to cut the entire right quarter panel and replace it with a new one, sand off the bed liner to spray a new one in, and then.... I said "We're wasting each other's time. I'll leave you to work on more productive projects."
Since then, I've had one painteless dent repair palce tell me he could ge this shop to do it for about $250-$300, which is what I will eventually do.
Logging in for a few minutes while on vacation.
Congrats on the new ride, Benjamin.
Those newer TDIs are common rail, VERY nice.

About the only thing you have to watch for on those rigs is the intake manifold will fill up with soot and get clogged. Then power and mileage go down.
Recommend exploring some options on deleting/disabling the EGR to cure that "issue". (off road use only).
I've done that with mine already, right after I installed the new turbo.

Highflyer, that is why your mileage is down. Clogged intake. Remove the intake elbow boot right where it goes into the engine and look inside. The buildup of soot gets very thick very quickly.

Once again, congrats on the new Jetta, you have made a very good choice and it should carry you around for many years.
I'll check that PM on TDIclub next.
